BIS removed, now can export polyester chips and yarn to India!
Subject: Notification on Revocation of Mandatory BIS Certification for PET Polyester Products in India
The Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals (DCPC), Government of India, announced on November 12, 2025, the rescission of compulsory Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification for 14 chemical and polymer products, including Terephthalic Acid (PTA), Monoethylene Glycol (MEG), polyester yarns, and polyester fibres.
Therefore, effective from November 12, 2025, PET polyester chips, polyester yarns, and related fibres are no longer subject to mandatory BIS certification for access to the Indian market.
This move is intended to simplify market entry. Please be advised that the revocation includes an exception for things done or omitted to be done before the rescission, meaning pre-existing obligations might still require compliance with the previous certification rules.
