【Production Efficiency Series #01】
🔎 Not sure where your production efficiency is being lost?
Most factory managers know something is wrong — but not all have a system to pinpoint exactly where.
— Overall Equipment Effectiveness — is that system.
It's calculated from 3 factors:
🔵 Availability = Run Time ÷ Planned Production Time
Measures how much of your scheduled time the machine is actually running.
🟢 Performance = (Total Count × Ideal Cycle Time) ÷ Run Time
Measures whether the machine is running at its intended speed.
🟠 Quality = Good Count ÷ Total Count
Measures the proportion of output that meets quality standards.
Then multiply all three together — and you get your real production efficiency.
Example:
Availability: 90% × Performance: 95% × Quality: 99% = OEE: 84.6%
💡 World-class benchmark: 85% or above.
Below that number? OEE tells you exactly which factor to fix first.
