What should a serious roll-to-roll laminator be able to handle beyond speed?

JIALITE NFM-ER is built for continuous roll-fed production from 800 to 1580 mm, covering paper from 50–600 gsm and speeds up to 120 m/min.

The machine can run water-based adhesive dry lamination, oil-based adhesive and thermal / pre-coated film, with OPP, PET, PVC and metallic film among the supported materials.

That working range opens the machine to kraft paper, printed packaging paper, wrapping paper, paper-bag material and other roll-fed converting jobs.

Roll handling is also matched to production scale.

Standard shaftless hydraulic unwinding covers common paper reels, while customers working with 1500 kg+ rolls can move to a heavy-duty shaftless configuration. CCD edge / line correction, an 800 mm electromagnetic-heated drying roller, up to 12–15T laminating pressure and controlled rewinding support the complete web path from incoming reel to finished roll.

A recent NFM-ER for Indonesia was tested with yellow kraft paper selected by the customer before shipment.

The line reached 85.9 m/min.

For us, pre-shipment testing means running the complete machine with material under meaningful production conditions — unwinding, correction, lamination, drying and rewinding working together before the machine is packed.

NFM-ER800 / 1080 / 1380 / 1580 can then be configured according to the customer’s actual roll width, roll weight, core size, paper gsm, film and adhesive process.

Yellow kraft paper continues to be a popular choice for packaging — not only because of its natural look, but because it works well across many converting applications.

Paper bags, retail packaging, gift packaging, takeaway outer packaging and other paper-based products can all benefit from the recognizable kraft appearance, while lamination adds extra surface protection for handling, moisture, dirt and oil.

For this NFM-ER Roll-to-Roll Laminating Machine, we selected yellow kraft paper for the final pre-shipment running test.

The machine reached 85.9 m/min.

For roll-fed packaging production, the laminated roll often continues into slitting, printing, bag making or other downstream converting. So the test is not only about the laminated surface — the whole roll needs to come out clean, flat and ready for the next process.

Before shipment, every JIALITE machine is fully adjusted and run in our workshop. We do not simply feed a small amount of material at low speed and pack the machine.

This NFM-ER has now completed its yellow kraft paper test and is getting ready for Indonesia.

Why do we test UV coating with the customer’s actual paper?

In today’s video, we ran 250gsm printed sheets at 1150mm width.

Getting the machine to run smoothly is only part of the job. What matters more is what the sheet looks like after coating and curing.

With different printed areas on the same sheet, it becomes much easier to check the gloss, surface consistency and overall coating effect across the full width.

Print embellishment is getting more attention in 2026, with foil, textured coatings and specialty effects giving printers more ways to add value after printing.

But for many packaging and commercial print jobs, overall UV coating still has a very practical role — improving surface appearance, adding protection and giving the finished print more visual impact without making the process unnecessarily complicated.

This is exactly what we look for in real sample testing at JIALITE.

Shorter print runs, more jobs — what should automation actually do in post-press?

When job changes become more frequent, speed is only part of the story.

For printers and packaging converters, one question is becoming more important: What additional products can your current printing capability create once the right finishing process is added?

Digital printing is one simple example.

A fast digital press can handle short runs efficiently, but if lamination still has to be outsourced or handled on a slower workflow, the bottleneck just moves to post-press. That is where machines such as our **NFY-S540 Automatic Digital Laminating Machine** come in.

250gsm, 1150mm printed sheets running today for a UV oil coating machine heading to Japan. 🇯🇵

For this sampling and acceptance test, we used colorful printed sheets so the coating result is easy to see across different images, dark areas and color blocks.

The final look matters just as much as smooth running. A good UV coating should give the printed sheet an even surface, consistent gloss and a clean finished appearance across the full width.

This batch is now being checked at JIALITE before shipment.
