Witnessed by Shanghai Municipal Health Commission and Municipal Data Bureau, Palan DataRx together with a few other governing members of Shanghai Health Data Industry Association signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Shanghai Data Group on August 14 last Thursday for a flagship initiative to develop and utilize healthcare data.

Established in 2022, Shanghai Data Group is a SOE authorised by the municipal government to run public data operations. At the event, Shanghai Data Group also released a comprehensive report sharing Shanghai experience in managing and operating Shanghai Healthcare Data Platform, its implementation roadmap, operational model design and successful case studies etc.

During the event, Palan DataRx has officially became the governing member of the Shanghai Health Data Industry Association and the first high-tech enterprise to conduct real-world clinical research using this Shanghai Healthcare Data Platform.

On July 30th, the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) of China released the "Guiding Principles for the Classification and Definition of Rehabilitation Digital Therapy Software Products" on its official website and announced that it would take effect from the date of publication. This is China’s first officially issued regulatory policy specifically targeting digital therapies, marking a significant milestone for the digital therapy segmentation.

From May 8 to 12, 2025, the China Hospital Information Network Conference (CHIMA 2025) and the Medical Information Technology and Products Exhibition were successfully held at the Xiamen International Convention and Exhibition Center.

At the conference, a plaque awarding ceremony was held for 35 companies which were elected to form the Health and Medical Big Data Value Co-creation Alliance. Shanghai Palan DataRx Co. Ltd. was honored as one of the first 35 companies for recognition of its leading position in medical big data analysis for the benefit of health outcome assessment and scientific research.

Since the China National Data Bureau was established on Oct 25, 2023, a number of regional data exchange companies / platform started to operate. In November 2024, Xiamen Data Exchange Co. Ltd has issued Shanghai Palan DataRx one of its first batch data transaction proof. This demonstrates not only our professionalism in data analytics but also our credibility in medical research.

Today the National Medical Insurance Administration held a press conference to introduce the adjustment of the National Medical Insurance Drug Catalog in 2024.

A total of 91 new drugs were added in the adjustment, including 26 drugs for tumors (incl. 4 rare diseases), 15 drugs for chronic diseases (incl. 2 rare diseases), 13 drugs for rare diseases, 7 anti-infective drugs. There are 11 patent drugs, 4 psychiatric drugs and 21 drugs in other fields. At the same time, 43 drugs have been removed.

This revision reflect the unmet demand with focus in areas such as tumors, chronic diseases, rare diseases and children’s medication. After the adjustment, the total number of drugs in the catalog will increase to 3159.

The new version of the Medical Insurance Drug Catalog will be officially implemented from Jan 1, 2025.

On Oct. 19, the “2024 China Rare Disease Conference” took place in Beijing China. According to the press release of the conference, nowadays 419 hospitals have joined the National Rare Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Collaboration Network, covering all provinces across China and more than 80 orphan drugs have been included in the national medical insurance drug catalog. The average diagnosis time for rare disease patients has been shortened from 4 years in the past to less than 4 weeks, medical costs have been reduced by 90% and the awareness rate of rare diseases has been increased from 31% in the past to 69%.

On Sept 20th, the National Health Commission of China released the Second Batch of Rare Disease Catalog. It involves a total of 17 disciplines including hematology, dermatology, rheumatology & immunology, pediatrics, neurology, endocrinology etc. covering 86 rare diseases. This made a total of 207 rare diseases (121 in the First Batch).

According to the National Medical Insurance Administration of China, more than 50 rare disease drugs has been approved and included in the medical insurance drug catalog. As of the end of June 2023, about 229,000 hospitals in China have been equipped with negotiated insurance-scheme-covered drugs including rare diseases drugs.
