CNC Machined Aluminum Chassis for High-End Audio Equipment
Another custom CNC machining project completed!
This 335 × 335 × 87.5 mm aluminum chassis was manufactured for high-end audio equipment. Due to its large size, deep internal cavities and multiple precision features, we used our V-1165 CNC machining center together with custom fixtures to maintain machining stability.
The process involved large-volume material removal, internal cavity machining, thin-wall and flatness control, precision CNC finishing, and final inspection.
After machining, the chassis received #200 sandblasting and black anodizing, creating a clean and uniform matte-black finish.
From prototype machining to finished parts, every step matters—especially fixturing, deformation control and surface finishing.

Why Sharp Corners Can Be a Challenge in CNC Machining PMMA Parts
PMMA (Acrylic) is widely used for many applications because of its excellent transparency, attractive appearance, and good dimensional stability. However, machining PMMA requires careful process control and manufacturing experience.
During CNC machining of PMMA parts, RYH found that sharp corner designs can increase the risk of edge chipping. Because PMMA is a relatively brittle plastic material, sharp edges may create stress concentration during milling, which can lead to small cracks or visible damage on the finished part.
Based on our machining experience, we recommend adding suitable corner radii whenever possible. This simple design improvement can help reduce machining stress, improve edge quality, and achieve more reliable results.

Bead Blasting and Black Anodizing for CNC Machined Aluminum Parts
In precision CNC machining, surface finishing plays an important role in both appearance and product performance.
For CNC machined aluminum parts, bead blasting before anodizing can create different surface textures and visual effects. The blasting media size and process parameters directly influence the final surface appearance.
The image shows black anodized aluminum components processed with different bead blasting finishes, including 100 #, 150 #, 180 #, and 200 # blasting grades.

How do we keep powder coated sheet metal parts looking consistent?
For visible sheet metal components, appearance is just as important as mechanical performance.
Recently, RYH performed a color consistency check on several powder coated sheet metal enclosures. Even with the same powder coating color, slight differences may occur due to material conditions, coating thickness, production batches, and surface reflection.
To ensure stable appearance, we measured three white powder coated sheet metal parts using a professional color measurement instrument based on the CIELAB color system.
For visible powder coated sheet metal parts, RYH normally targets a color difference within ΔE ≤ 2.0 under controlled production conditions.
As a sheet metal fabrication manufacturer, we focus on the complete manufacturing process, including laser cutting, bending, welding, surface finishing coordination, and final inspection.
We are not only making metal parts — we are helping customers achieve reliable quality and consistent appearance for their products.

Not every day do we get to machine C954 aluminum bronze.

It looks a bit darker than regular brass, but it is much harder and more wear resistant, which also makes it more challenging to cut. We had to adjust our CNC turning parameters and even cut the raw tube into shorter sections before loading it into the lathe.
The video shows one of the most satisfying parts of the process — turning the inner bore while the bronze chips fly off the tool. There's always something special about watching a difficult material machine cleanly.
Final size: OD 50.8 mm, ID 38.35 mm, Length 12.6 mm.
