Robotic Automation Solution for Automotive Door Panel Sealing Foam Application
As quality standards for automotive interiors continue to rise, the application of sealing foam strips on automotive door panels has become a critical process affecting vehicle noise reduction, sealing performance, and overall appearance. Traditional manual application methods often struggle to achieve consistent quality and production efficiency. To address these challenges, we offer a robotic automation solution for automotive door panel sealing foam placement.
High-Precision Robotic Application of Sealing Foam Strips
This system utilizes an articulated industrial robot equipped with a dedicated end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) to automatically pick, position, and apply automotive sealing foam strips (EPDM or foam seals) onto door panels. Based on CAD-driven path programming, the robot ensures accurate placement along complex contours, preventing stretching, misalignment, or lifting of the seal.
Flexible Automation for Multiple Vehicle Models
Designed for flexible automotive production, the robotic system supports multiple door panel variants through quick-change fixtures and programmable recipes. Front and rear doors, left-hand and right-hand configurations can be processed on the same production line, making the solution ideal for OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers seeking scalable automation.
Improved Quality Consistency and Production Efficiency
Consistent and repeatable sealing foam application quality
Reduced dependency on manual labor
Increased production throughput and stable cycle times
Lower defect rates and rework costs
By replacing manual operations with robotic automation, manufacturers achieve higher reliability and long-term cost efficiency.
Smart Integration and Industry 4.0 Ready Design
The system can be seamlessly integrated with vision systems, adhesive dispensing units, PLC control platforms, and MES systems, enabling process monitoring, traceability, and data-driven optimization. This makes it fully aligned with Industry 4.0 and smart factory requirements in the automotive industry.
