Hand Massage for Insomnia Relief: Simple Techniques to Improve Sleep
Struggling with insomnia? Discover how simple hand massages can help you relax and fall asleep faster.
Key Hand Points for Insomnia:
• Shenmen Point (HT7): Located in the depression on the wrist crease, ulnar side (pinkie side). Gently knead with your thumb for 3–5 minutes until slightly sore to calm the mind.
• Neiguan Point (PC6): Situated 2 inches above the wrist crease, between the palmaris longus and flexor carpi radialis tendons. Massage each side for 3–5 minutes to soothe the heart and mind.
• Hegu Point (LI4): Found at the midpoint of the radial side of the second metacarpal bone on the back of the hand. Apply moderate pressure and knead each hand for 3–5 minutes to regulate body functions.
• Thenar Eminence: Massage the fleshy area at the base of the thumb by gently pushing from the root to the edge, repeating on both hands.
• Finger Rubbing: Gently rub each finger from base to tip for 2–3 minutes, focusing on the little finger (linked to heart and small intestine meridians).
Tips: Perform 1–2 times daily, stay consistent, and combine with a regular sleep schedule and stress management. For severe insomnia, consult a healthcare professional.
