Why Bimetal Thermostats Have ±5°C Error | Explained Simply 🌡️
Why do bimetallic thermostats typically have a control deviation of ±1–5°C? 💡 The answer lies in thermal inertia.

Bimetal thermostats work based on the expansion and contraction of a bimetal strip. However, during heat transfer, the strip cannot instantly match changes in ambient temperature. 🔍 Its response always lags slightly behind or reacts ahead due to differences in heat transfer efficiency.

This delay affects the timing of contact switching, leading to a natural deviation between actual and target temperatures. 🔥 As a result, an error range of ±1–5°C is considered normal in such systems.

Understanding this helps in selecting the right temperature control solution for your application, especially when precision requirements are critical. 🚀

Why Bimetal Thermostats Drift Over Time | Causes of Temperature Deviation 🌡️
Noticing wider temperature gaps in your bimetal thermostat after long-term use? 💡 Here’s why it happens.

Bimetallic thermostats rely on thermal expansion and contraction of a bimetal strip. After repeated exposure to high temperatures, micro-level changes occur inside the metal structure, reducing its elasticity. 🔍

This leads to two key issues: slower response time when detecting temperature changes, and weakened “temperature memory.” As a result, the operating temperature gradually rises while the reset temperature drops—creating a larger control deviation over time. 🔥

In real applications, this means less precise control and a wider effective temperature range. Understanding this helps you plan maintenance, replacement cycles, and ensure system reliability.

HD6P2 Wireless Foot Switch | Smart Low Battery Alert & Durable Design

⚙️ HD6P2 wireless foot switch provides reliable hands-free control for medical and industrial equipment.

It features a cast aluminum alloy housing with baked coating, offering strong resistance to wear, aging, and harsh environments. A spring-type cable lock ensures high tensile strength and stable protection.

🔋 Compared with M5TRF, HD6P2 uses a replaceable battery design for easier maintenance. When power is low, the receiver’s red light flashes as a smart reminder for replacement.

Supports waterproof IP68 micro switch, multiple interfaces (USB, serial, aviation plug), and CE/UL/CQC certified gold-contact switching for stable performance.

PID Control in Thermostats | Achieving Stable Temperature Without Overshoot 🌡️
How does a thermostat reach the exact target temperature without constant fluctuation? 💡 This is where PID control makes the difference.

Starting with a setpoint of 100°C and an initial temperature of 20°C, the controller first uses proportional control (P) to quickly reduce the error by increasing heater power. 🔥 But P alone can’t eliminate steady-state error, so integral control (I) steps in—accumulating past errors to push the temperature precisely toward the target.

However, this may cause overshoot. That’s where derivative control (D) comes into play—monitoring the rate of change and reducing power in advance to prevent exceeding the setpoint. 🚀

By combining P, I, and D, the system achieves fast response, minimal overshoot, and stable temperature control—essential for modern industrial applications.
