BMC or SMC — which material is right for your project?
Although both are thermoset composite materials, their performance and processing capabilities are very different.
✔ BMC = better flowability, thin-wall molding, precision electrical parts
✔ SMC = higher structural strength, large-area components, impact resistance
In practical engineering:
• MCB housings → usually BMC
• Switchgear insulation panels → often SMC
• Battery covers & railway platforms → SMC advantage
• Complex flame-retardant electrical parts → BMC advantage
Choosing the wrong material can lead to molding defects, instability, or unnecessary cost.
At Jintong, we help customers select the right composite solution based on structure, performance, and production process.
