On March 11, 2013, GrandOmics (NextOmics) began to provide third-generation sequencing services, becoming the first third-generation sequencing service company in China. In the process of continuous exploration and evolution, the team of Hu Jiang, the company's chief health technology officer, independently developed NextDenovo, a well-known assembly software in the field of three-generation sequencing genome assembly, which can still assemble high-quality genomes under the premise of greatly reducing computing resources and running time, and has the advantages of high error correction, high efficiency and high accuracy. Today, on the tenth anniversary of our official third generation sequencing service, we are making the source code of the software available to the world, At the same time, the NextDenovo software scientific paper "An efficient error correction and accurate assembly tool for noisy long reads" was preprinted and released. We make our own contribution to the healthy, fast and high-quality development of the entire industry.

At present, the software has been downloaded more than 11,000 times before the publication of the paper, helping to publish about 500 articles, and has been unanimously recognized and praised by many experts and scholars at home and abroad.

Lungfish are the closest living relatives of tetrapods and retain ancestral traits associated with the transition from aquatic to terrestrial life. Of the six extant species of lungfish, four live in Africa, one in South America, and one in Australia.Respectively ,two different research teams have published their findings about the African lungfish and Australia lungfish in the top international journals Cell and Nature. The lungfish genome is the largest animal genome reported to date (about 40Gb), and the large number of repeats (> 60%) in the genome further increases the difficulty of assembly. With the leading ONT Ultra long sequencing and self-developed NextDenovo genome assembly technology, GrandOmics helped the two research teams to complete high-level genome assembly respectively. Among them, Nanopore sequencing and the use of NextDenovo and NextPolish software were provided for the African lungfish article. The BUSCO assessment of the super-large genome reached more than 95%, and Hu Jiang from Wuhan GrandOmics Biotechnology Co., Ltd. was the co-first author of the paper.

GrandOmics X PacBio Revio – Higher throughput, more HiFi reads, but cost effeciently

GrandOmics is happy to share that two latest PacBio sequencers -Revio have arrived on 4 Arpil. The new platforms provide 15-fold increase in productivity compared to Sequel II/IIe, shortening turnaround time and reducing cost by almost 3-fold.

The Revio system uses a high-density, 25 million SMRT Cell, up to 4 SMRT Cells in parallel sequencing to provide 360 Gb of HiFi reads per day. In addition, With the Revio system, you can achieve higher throughput to support large studies and develop novel applications.

GrandOmics is releasing sequencing services using this latest sequencing platforms by Revio:

Genome Sequencing
Single Cell Full-length Transcriptome Sequencing
T2T assembly
Pangenomic Sequencing
Metagenomics Research
… More to explore.
