A wet scrubber is one of the oldest, most reliable ways to pull acid and soluble gases out of an exhaust stream. Here's the 5-step journey of a polluted gas:

1️⃣ Dirty gas enters from the bottom
2️⃣ A pump sprays scrubbing liquid as the gas rises
3️⃣ Packing (structured or random) slows the gas and forces contact with the liquid
