Production of this batch of 2000 × 2000 mm filter plates for mining applications has been completed.
From raw material selection, molding, and machining to the inspection of feed ports, filtrate channels, and sealing surfaces, every step can affect installation, sealing, and filtration performance.
In continuous mining operations, filter plates are more than components. They directly influence equipment reliability, cake moisture, and maintenance intervals.
Production is complete. Final inspection is next before the plates are prepared for delivery.

These results depend on more than the filter press itself. Slurry characteristics, feed consistency, filter cloth selection, sealing condition, pressure profile, squeezing time, and air blowing all play a role.

When the equipment and process work together, the result is clearer filtrate, lower cake moisture, and more reliable operation.

Because customers do not simply need a filter press that runs. They need consistent results from every cycle.

Replacing filter plates doesn’t start with the price. It starts with understanding the problem.
This time, our team visited the customer’s site to measure and inspect the existing filter plates—checking the dimensions, feed position, sealing surfaces, cloth installation, and actual operating conditions.
The customer needs to replace 2000 × 2000 mm top-feed filter plates. For plates of this size, a model number or old drawing is not always enough. Site dimensions, connection points, and operating conditions can all affect installation and performance.
Measure first. Diagnose first. Manufacture second.
We are not simply supplying a plate with the same dimensions. We are supplying one that properly fits the customer’s existing equipment.

A customer asked us:

“The filter cloth is blinding more often, and cycle times are getting longer. Should we replace it?”

Our first question is:

**What has changed in the process?**

Slurry concentration, particle size, chemical conditioning, feed pressure, and cleaning practices can all affect cloth performance.

Longer cycles, wetter cakes, and poor cake release may look like a filter cloth problem—but they are often symptoms of an upstream change.

**Before replacing the cloth, identify what has changed.**

A new cloth may solve the symptom.

This batch of VPA20 mining filter plates** has just been completed in our workshop.

For replacement projects, the real challenge is not making a plate that looks similar. It is making sure every detail matches the customer’s existing filter press.

Before production, I usually confirm:

🔹 Overall dimensions, plate thickness, and total plate pack length
🔹 Feed and filtrate hole positions and diameters
🔹 Handle, rail, and support point locations
🔹 Sealing surface height and flatness
🔹 Filter cloth fixing method and plate arrangement

Even if the plate can be installed, one small mismatch may still cause slurry leakage, poor drainage, uneven cake thickness, faster cloth wear, or abnormal stress across the plate pack.

That is why, during production, we focus more on **batch consistency, hole accuracy, and sealing fit** than appearance alone.

For a mining customer, the goal is not to receive plates that are “close enough.”

The goal is to install them with minimal modification and bring the original machine back into stable operation as quickly as possible.

**A replacement plate should not only fit. It should keep working reliably after installation.**

💥 Why Do Filter Plates Keep Breaking? Is It Really Because They’re Not Strong Enough?

When I see filter plates cracking repeatedly on site, I usually don’t blame the plate first. I check the whole system.

Common causes include:

1️⃣ Unstable raw material or poor manufacturing quality
2️⃣ High temperature or chemical conditions beyond the plate’s limits
3️⃣ Excessive feed or squeezing pressure
4️⃣ Blocked feed ports, drainage channels, or filter cloth
5️⃣ Torn, folded, or incorrectly installed filter cloth
6️⃣ Excessive closing force or plate pack misalignment
7️⃣ Residual cake trapped between the plates

My usual approach is:

✅ Check the actual operating pressure
✅ Clean the feed ports, drainage channels, and sealing surfaces
✅ Replace damaged or heavily blinded filter cloth
✅ Check plate alignment, hydraulic cylinder condition, and closing force
✅ Confirm the plate material matches the slurry temperature, pH, and chemistry
✅ Avoid sudden heating or cooling to reduce thermal stress

In many cases, the broken plate is only the final symptom. The real problem may be pressure, blockage, cloth condition, or operation.

From manual cake scraping after every cycle to much cleaner discharge — this time, I did not start with the discharge system. ⚙️

At the site, the problem was very clear:

The cake kept sticking to the filter cloth, discharge was incomplete, and operators had to clean the plates manually after each cycle. 😓

During the inspection, I focused on several key points:

🔹 Filter cloth material, permeability, and surface finish
🔹 Cloth ageing and blinding
🔹 Feed pressure and feed time
🔹 Cake thickness and final moisture
🔹 Slurry particle size, viscosity, and chemical dosing
🔹 Discharge time and cake release performance

The issue was not caused by one single factor.

The material was fine and sticky, the cloth surface was already partially blinded, and the final feed pressure and holding time were too high. The cake had become too dense and was almost locked onto the cloth.

We then:

🧼 cleaned the plate drainage channels
🧪 adjusted the chemical dosing
📉 optimized the feed pressure curve and cycle time
🧵 rechecked the filter cloth selection

The result was clear:

✅ Cleaner cake release
✅ Less manual scraping
✅ Shorter discharge time
✅ Lower cleaning frequency
✅ More stable filtration cycles

This is why I never look at cake discharge as an isolated problem.

Cloth selection, slurry properties, dosing, pressure, time, and moisture all show up in the final cake.
