European Agentic AI Bootcamp

An online event covering powerful building blocks that enable and accelerate the development and deployment of agentic AI workflows will be co-organized by Austrian Scientific Computing (ASC), the Leibniz Supercomputing Center (LRZ), the High-Performance Computing Center Stuttgart (HLRS), the Academic Computer Center Cyfronet AGH (Cyfronet), the OpenACC organization, and NVIDIA for AI Factory Austria AI:AT, HammerHAI, and Gaia AI Factory from 20 to 22 July 2026.

Agentic AI employs sophisticated reasoning to solve complex problems, utilizing data from multiple sources to analyze, strategize, and complete tasks independently. There are many powerful building blocks that developers and researchers can use to enable and accelerate the development and deployment of their agentic AI workflows.

Strengthening Collaboration Between HPC Serbia and NCC Austria

Last week, HPC Serbia had the pleasure of welcoming Marija Bijelić from NCC Austria for a collaboration meeting focused on strengthening ties between the two National Competence Centers. The visit provided an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences, discuss ongoing activities, and identify areas for closer cooperation within the broader EuroCC and EuroHPC ecosystem. NCC Austria is an active member of the European community, supporting training, knowledge transfer, and the adoption of advanced computing technologies across academia and industry.

ONLICE COURSE: Molecular Modelling on HPC

A two-day online course on molecular dynamics will be jointly organized by Austrian Scientific Computing ASC and EuroCC Austria on 18 and 19 June 2026.

This course explores the world of molecular modelling and simulation on high-performance computing ( ). Participants will learn how to predict and refine protein structures, perform molecular docking, and simulate biomolecular systems in realistic environments, including membrane-embedded proteins, using state-of-the-art open-source tools such as AlphaFold 2, ProMod3, AutoDock Vina, and GROMACS. From structure generation and ligand binding to full molecular dynamics simulations and trajectory visualization with VMD, they will gain practical skills to carry out modern computational studies in biomolecular research and drug discovery.

WEBINAR – Applications of HPC: Engineering

The next webinar in the High-Performance Computing: A Gateway to Next-Generation Research series will take place on 11 June 2026, focusing on the application of High-Performance Computing ( ) in engineering. The event is organized as part of the fifth edition of the Italy-Germany Webinar Series and brings together leading researchers working at the intersection of computational materials science, nanotechnology, artificial intelligence, and supercomputing.

The webinar is intended for researchers, engineers, students, and professionals interested in gaining a better understanding of modern computational tools and applications, computational science, materials modeling, nanotechnology, and AI-driven scientific discovery. SEARCH IMAGES WITH AI: A Hands-On Introduction to CLIP

A hands-on online training on using for image search will be jointly organized by AI Factory Austria AI:AT and Austrian Scientific Computing (ASC) on 10 June 2026.

This training offers a deeper understanding of how and why AI systems make decisions, and how they can connect images and text in powerful new ways. Participants will get to know CLIP (Contrastive Language–Image Pre-Training), how to prepare their data, and build a smart image search that "gets" both images and text.

Participants will be guided step by step through building a similarity pipeline, learning how to rank images based on how well they match a given text prompt. They will dive into practical evaluation techniques, including precision and recall, to understand how well their system actually performs.

High-Performance Computing with Python

An online 5-day course that combines lectures and hands-on sessions on Python for High-Performance Computing (HPC) will be organized by the Jülich Supercomputing Centre (Forschungszentrum Jülich, JSC) from 15 to 19 June 2026.

Python is increasingly used in high-performance computing projects. It can be used directly or as a high-level interface to existing HPC applications and libraries. EuroCC 2 and EuroCC4SEE Final Review Highlights Network Progress

Last week in Luxembourg, representatives from HPC competence centers and partner institutions convened for the final review meeting of the EuroCC 2 and EuroCC4SEE projects. They showcased the network's progress in enhancing high-performance computing ( ), artificial intelligence ( ), and advanced digital skills across Europe.

Although EuroCC4SEE has officially concluded, HPC Serbia continues its activities within the EuroCC initiative through participation in the new EuroCC 3 project, which is currently in the Grant Agreement preparation phase. The continuation of the project will enable further development of national HPC and AI competencies, support services for academia and industry, international collaboration, and integration into the broader European HPC ecosystem.

Serbia Builds its AI Future Through European Partnerships

Although Serbia has traditionally lagged behind in adopting new technologies, this time the country has "caught the train" when it comes to , a journalist from Newsmax Balkans said while introducing Dr. Marija Mitrovic Dankulov from the HPC Serbia.

Speaking on the program, Dr. Mitrović Dankulov discussed the development of AI in Serbia, the country's growing ecosystem, available expertise, and future opportunities. She emphasized that Serbia already has internationally recognized AI experts, strong research teams, a significant number of startups focused on artificial intelligence, and considerable computing resources.

She highlighted several sectors in which AI is rapidly advancing, including cybersecurity, energy, environmental protection, and the preservation of language and cultural heritage. Particular attention was given to healthcare, where AI has the potential to dramatically improve the speed of diagnostics, enable more precise treatments, support medical decision-making, and accelerate the discovery of new drugs.

Dr. Mitrović Dankulov also pointed to the launch of the (Serbian AI Factory Antenna) project in May 2026. The initiative brings together a multidisciplinary team of researchers and experts from eight Serbian institutions, tasked with developing AI models and datasets in the coming years. In addition, the project aims to provide free training programs for industry, academia, and the public sector, helping organizations adopt new AI solutions more quickly and efficiently while also enabling Serbia to gain better access to European resources and infrastructure.

"We are a small country, and international financial support is certainly necessary", she said. "We do not have the capacity to independently finance advanced supercomputing resources, although Serbia is not doing badly in this area. Europe has been developing exascale supercomputers for the past six years, and through European projects we are able to access them. These are extremely powerful systems capable of processing enormous amounts of data and training large-scale AI models in a very short time".

Discussing Serbia's European partnerships in the field of artificial intelligence, Dr. Mitrović Dankulov said that through initiatives such as SAIFA and — a network of national competence centers for high-performance computing and AI — Serbia has established valuable partnerships with experts and institutions across 35 countries, creating opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Among Europe's leaders in artificial intelligence, she singled out France, which has developed the highly advanced Mistral large language model that Serbia is expected to use in the future, as well as Germany and Finland.
