Curaçao AgroTech is a local business which aims to reduce dependency of food import by growing fresh produce locally. By combining agriculture with the latest technological advancements we are able to design, build, run and maintain sustainable farms and greenhouses on the island. We will be able to grow fruits, vegetables, herbs and fish in a closed symbiotic environment. A growing method known a

s aquaponics. Within this ecosystem, the fish provide the nutrients for the plants and in turn the plants clean the water for the fish. Creating and maintaining this closed ecosystem allows us to grow highly nutritious vegetables along with a lean source of protein (fish) while using only 10% of the water that a traditional terrestrial farm would use. Implementing this technology on Curaçao will help reduce dependency of food import. When food is grown locally, it will have less of an environmental impact. Food is grown where it is consumed, removing the need for complicated logistics of transporting the food overseas.
