As the only international treaty specifically dedicated to criminalising offences against cultural property, the Nicosia Convention represents a landmark instrument in the global fight against the destruction, hashtag , and of .

The keynote address will be delivered by 𝘿𝙧 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙖 𝙎𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙙𝙤𝙪 𝙄𝙚𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙮𝙢𝙞𝙙𝙤𝙪, President of the National Commission for in and former Director of the Department of Antiquities, who will provide an in-depth overview of the Nicosia Convention, its objectives, implementation mechanisms, and its importance in strengthening international efforts against cultural property crime.

The session will also include two short presentations highlighting ongoing initiatives in the field:

🔹 Maxim Nasra (Qatar National Library) – The Himaya Project: Raising Awareness and Building Capacity to Combat Illicit Trafficking of Cultural Property

The event is designed for cultural heritage professionals, policymakers, researchers, law enforcement representatives, and stakeholders involved in the protection of cultural heritage and the fight against illicit trafficking.

🛰️The ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence participated in European Maritime Day 2026, Europe’s annual flagship event where the maritime community meets to network, discuss and outline joint action for maritime affairs and the sustainable blue economy.
During EMD2026, the ERATOSTHENES team presented EarthView Cyprus, the new Satellite Data Acquisition Station, highlighting its capabilities for near real time maritime surveillance, information sharing and support to authorities across Europe and the EMMENA region 🌍
