The "FlexCHESS 2026: Flexibility for the European Grid" Final Event came to and end, having taken place between 8-12 June 2026. The event consisted of a booth presentation during the PSCC Conference, and an online session complementing the in-person activities held in Limassol, Cyprus (St Raphael Resort & Marina).
Immersed amongst 300+ conference participants from across the globe including researchers, industry representatives, and DSOs/TSOs, with the objective of showcasing the project's key results and discussing pathways for exploitation and replication, the FlexCHESS 2026: Flexibility for the European Grid event came to an end today.
The online session opened with a welcome and project overview providing a concise summary of FlexCHESS's journey over the project lifetime. This was followed by a substantive technical session which presented the core results of the project: the CHESS architecture, the Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) framework, the interoperability solutions developed, and the FlexPlatform, as well as results from the Pilot Sites. The third session addressed exploitation and market pathways and potential follow-on activities beyond the project period.
Participants were invited to complete a satisfaction survey administered, followed by an open Q&A session that generated a discussion.
Under the theme “Pilot Site Outcomes | Real data. Real grid. Real impact”, four interactive panels presented results from the FlexCHESS demonstration sites, highlighting real operational data, key findings and lessons learned from field-testing across Europe.
Visitors also had the opportunity to experience the FlexCHESS Digital Twin Live Demonstration, which showcased how the VESS optimises distributed hybrid energy storage in real time- from forecasting and flexibility provision to decision support and carbon reduction.
The three-day presence and the subsequent Final Event were made possible through the outstanding contributions of Uršula Krisper, Seifeddine Ben Elghali, Miguel Ángel Mena, Antonio Soler, Tim Franham and all the partners who joined online.
