What is an Air Gap Test and why does it matter? 🧲
When it comes to magnetic lifting safety, theoretical values are not enough. That’s why Air Gap (Load) Testing is a crucial part of magnet verification.
An Air Gap Test simulates real operating conditions where the magnet does not have perfect contact with the load – for example due to surface irregularities, coatings, rust, dirt, or uneven material. This test confirms the real lifting capacity, not just the maximum value under ideal conditions.
At WALMAG, Air Gap testing helps ensure that magnetic lifters (such as Revolift permanent lifting magnets) perform safely and reliably in real-world applications.
✔️ Verifies actual lifting force
✔️ Increases workplace safety
✔️ Reduces risk during material handling
✔️ Confirms magnet performance under non-ideal conditions
👉 Because in industrial lifting, real conditions matter more than lab numbers.
