Why is a clean magnet contact surface so important? 🧲🔍

In daily operations with lifting magnets like our GP 250, it pays to remember one essential step before every lift.

What happens during operation?
⚙️ Steel chips, swarf, or other small metal particles can easily get caught on the bottom active surface of the magnet.
💨 These particles create an unwanted air gap between the magnet and the load.
📉 As a result, the total clamping force of the magnet is reduced.

How to ensure 100% performance and smooth handling?
1️⃣ Check the bottom poles before placing the magnet on the material.
2️⃣ Clean the surface mechanically and remove all material residues.
3️⃣ Perfect contact with the workpiece guarantees full magnetic force.

What is an Air Gap Test and why does it matter? 🧲

When it comes to magnetic lifting safety, theoretical values are not enough. That’s why Air Gap (Load) Testing is a crucial part of magnet verification.

An Air Gap Test simulates real operating conditions where the magnet does not have perfect contact with the load – for example due to surface irregularities, coatings, rust, dirt, or uneven material. This test confirms the real lifting capacity, not just the maximum value under ideal conditions.

This year, we took part in the “Krabice od bot” charity project (organized by and ) for the very first time — and our colleagues embraced it with great enthusiasm. Thanks to their generosity, we were able to prepare gifts for five boys aged 15–17. 🎄

We’re also proud that Walmag contributed to the collection by donating five power banks — a practical gift we hope will make their everyday lives a little easier.
