The dawn of the aviation industry in Kunovice came in 1934 when a group of aviation enthusiasts opened a small workshop and started to build gliders. In 1936 the famous Czech aviation company AVIA opened its factory in Kunovice. During WWII the factory operated as a repair facility for Junkers and Arado aircraft and after the war also Spitfires and Lavochkins. After the war, the Kunovice plant was

involved in the production of almost all aircraft that were flying at the time in Czechoslovakia. In 1947 the first aircraft, Z-22 Junák, was designed, developed and manufactured in Kunovice marking the important start of a new era. During the period 1950-1954 a completely new facility and airport was constructed on the site where Czech Sport Aircraft stands today. From 1954 up to the present day several aircrafts have been designed, developed and manufactured in Kunovice. The Ae-45, Ae-145, L200 Morava, Z-37 Bumblebee, L-29 Dolphin and L-410 have all been manufactured in Kunovice as well as the famous L-13 and L-23 Blanik gliders The very first L-200 Morava and later the L-410 Turbolet was manufactured in the current facility of Czech Sport Aircraft. The city of Kunovice is steeped in aviation history. Kunovice and the surrounding area is an important centre of aviation heritage and home to one of the largest airclubs in the Czech Republic where generations of pilots have been trained. Many of such pilots served in the Czechoslovak fighter squadron of the Royal Air Force during World War II and later at the Eastern front in Russia. In recent years, the activities on the Kunovice site have gradually split and we have observed the evolution of several new companies as offshoots of what had once been a single coordinated production facility. Czech Sport Aircraft formally entered the market in 2009 based on the engineering and production capability and almost 80 years of aviation pedigree provided by the historical design, development and production that had taken place on the Kunovice site. Czech Sport Aircraft is focused on the research, design, development and production of Light Sport Aircraft for basic and advanced flight training, basic military pilot training, general recreational use and air tourism. Due to our state-of-the-art products offering the highest standards of safety, superior performance, ease of maintenance and low through-life operating costs, Czech Sport Aircraft has quickly positioned itself amongst the market leaders within the Light Sport Aircraft segment of the General Aviation market. Czech Sport Aircraft currently holds both Production Organisation Approval and Design Organisation Approval from the European Aviation Safety Association (EASA). Today, the company’s technological excellence and dedication to innovation, makes Czech Sport Aircraft a leader in the Light Sport Aircraft segment of the General Aviation market. The current production of the company comprises the PS-28 Cruiser and the SportCruiser. Both aircraft are double-seat aircraft of full metal construction. The aircraft are arranged as low-wing mono-planes with cantilevered wings and conventional empennage. The PS-28 Cruiser and SportCruiser are essentially differentiated in terms of their certification and thus their market application. The PS-28 Cruiser is Type Certified for VFR Day operations according to EASA LSA regulations and can be fully commercially operated in EASA countries or in countries where the PS-28 Cruiser obtained local CAA Type Certification. The SportCruiser is certified according to the USA-LSA category and can be operated in countries recognising this LSA category such as the USA, South Africa, Australia and some South American countries. Currently a total of almost 600 PS-28 Cruiser and SportCruiser have been produced. About 150 aircraft are operating in Europe and enjoying significant sales success. Due to its robust construction, ease of maintenance and superior flight characteristics, the PS-28 Cruiser and SportCruiser is the perfect platform for Flight Training Organisations, air clubs, basic military training and tourist flying.
