Another fantastic image by Wolfgang Promper, with some fascinating physics behind it. At the center are two stars that are unusually different from one another. The current theory suggests there were originally three—two of which merged into a single, large magnetic star, creating this beautiful nebula in the process.
This image combines exposures from two ASA AstroSysteme Austria telescopes using our C3 and C5 cameras, along with Baader Planetarium filters.

Always glad to see our cameras on such hi-end setup :) A perfect example of our assymentric design in Cassegrain focal point and symmetrical small cross-section C1x on RASA.

A little gem is about to be delivered. ✨

This small mobile SSA station combines an Observable Space CDK14 tracking telescope with an L350 mount, plus a Celestron RASA 8 wide-field detection telescope.

Equipped with two sensitive Moravian Instruments astronomical cameras and the Baader Planetarium OMS IT solution, this fully integrated system is a turnkey solution for mobile and versatile SSA operations.

The setup can be mounted on a trolley, truck bed, or trailer and becomes operational within just a few minutes.

Together with our partners, the team at Baader Planetarium develops integrated and mobile SSA solutions in a scalable approach.

Another fantastic work from Team CielAustral using our C5 camera!

Nowadays, the Horsehead Nebula is arguably one of the most famous deep-sky objects. It was originally discovered by Williamina Paton Fleming on photographic plates from the Harvard College Observatory. In her notebook, the nebula was described as an "area of nebulosity in a semi-circular indentation." You can find out a bit more about her contributions to astronomy here: https://zenodo.org/records/1448062

IC2220 is a reflection nebula created by a red giant HR 3126 shedding its outer layers. It was speculated that the bipolar structure is caused by a companion binary star; however, none was found.

This amazing photo was taken by Mark McComiskey using our C5-150M camera (https://www.gxccd.com/art?id=698&lang=409) over 43 hours. Check Mark's Astrobin page for more details and full resolution!
