A cruise ship presents a unique set of challenges for sound... from open-air pools and entertainment spaces to intimate dining areas, every environment has different requirements for coverage, placement and durability.

On board Star Navigator, part of the StarCruises fleet, d&b Y-Series and xS-Series systems provide sound across a range of the ship’s leisure and entertainment spaces.

The Palace Suite pool features Y12 loudspeakers with Yi subwoofers and 8S delays, while the Rome-themed swimming pool combines 12S, 5S and 8S loudspeakers. Additional 8S and 12S with Bi6 subwoofers support the Seafood Grill and helipad.

Being out at sea, the environment matters just as much as the application. Seawater Resistance (SWR) versions provide additional protection against salt spray and humidity, helping the systems withstand the demands of long-term marine operation.

The result is a flexible d&b solution designed around the very different spaces found across this 268-metre cruise ship 🙌

Nothing quite compares to the backdrop at Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre 😮‍💨

Lily Allen brought her West End Girl tour to the iconic Colorado amphitheatre, with a full touring d&b system from Brown Note Productions, Inc.

GSL, KSL and SL-SUB were out in force, with 32 GSL, 24 KSL and 40 SL-SUB loudspeakers deployed across the system.

A pretty special setting for a show that Westword described as “a night of therapy set to a beat.”

For Steve Reich's 90th birthday celebrations, d&b Soundscape became the canvas for Phase | Pattern | Pulse, an immersive spatial audio experience placing audiences at the centre of three of the composer's most celebrated works.

Commissioned for the Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities's Black Box and co-produced with The Glasshouse International Centre for Music, the installation was created by immersive audio specialists Loss >< Gain (Sigur Rós ÁRA, Jon Hopkins, Max Richter) in collaboration with award-winning lighting designer Ed Warren (Four Tet), using recordings by leading Reich performers Colin Currie Group.

Presented through d&b Soundscape using 128 sound objects positioned in three-dimensional space, Phase ,Pattern, Pulse transformed works into a deeply immersive listening experience, revealing details, rhythms and relationships that are often missed in traditional performance settings.

The start of October saw a historic night for professional wrestling as AEW brought Grand Slam: France to Paris for its first-ever live event in the country.

An in-the-round d&b deployment featuring six hangs of KSL, four hangs of SL-SUB and 60 amplifiers installed in the roof delivered powerful, consistent coverage throughout the arena. As part of the d&b SL-Series, KSL combines long-throw performance with broadband cardioid directivity, helping minimise unwanted rear energy while maintaining clarity and impact for every fan in attendance.

A landmark night for AEW and a flawless delivery from the Southby team on site and in the warehouse.

A new way to route audio... Milan Manager 3.0 has landed, and it's the biggest update yet.

With the new Channels Mode you can now simply pick channels on a talker, drag them to one or more listeners, and drop them onto their inputs. And if you need to route more than one at a time, you can just hold ctrl/cmd or Shift to select channels at once. Milan Manager then automatically picks the right streams and channel mappings to make the connection work. Easy!

Whether you're routing a festival main stage or configuring a permanent installation - Channels Mode lets you focus on the audio rather than the streams behind it.

In preparation for NieR:Orchestra Concert 12026 at TAURON Arena in Kraków, Sound Engineer Julian Papeika utilised our newest feature, System Auralization, to support his workflow.

"One of my favourite features was being able to listen to how the system would reproduce my own recordings and mixed multitracks, using the actual type of music that would be performed at the concert."

This November we're heading to Beirut at the iconic B 018 club - the first U-Series install in the Middle East - for two days of hands-on learning, discussion and more.

The Electroacoustics Seminar explores the principles behind sound system design, helping participants better understand how sound behaves in real-world environments and what it takes to deliver intelligible audio to every listener.

On day two, Software & System Fundamentals focuses on the d&b workflow, covering ArrayCalc, R1 and the tools used to plan, simulate and manage systems efficiently.

Whether you're looking to build new skills or refresh existing knowledge, both sessions are designed to encourage participation, practical learning and the exchange of experiences.

Great to see such strong interest in our recent Line Array Workshop at Dubai Opera.

Over two days, attendees joined us to explore the fundamentals of line array design, from understanding when and why to use a line array system to designing loudspeaker setups with d&b ArrayCalc.

A big thank you to Dubai Opera for hosting us and to everyone who attended, asked questions, and shared in the discussions. It's always encouraging to see so much enthusiasm for learning, collaboration, and better system design.

Running from 18 September through 11 October, the venue has welcomed 50,000+ fans per night, purpose-built specifically for Shakira’s Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour.
