Woco Engineering – Tailored Solutions for Every Challenge
🔇 Acoustics reimagined for e-mobility

With the disappearance of the combustion engine, noises inside the vehicle cabin are perceived much more intensely and are placing significantly higher demands on acoustics. This is exactly where our newly developed front panel grommet comes into play.😎🚗

To meet these demands, we analyzed various design approaches and developed a two-part front panel grommet made of highly filled PP with a thick wall.
During the further optimization process, it also became apparent that improved acoustics bring new challenges regarding surface and component quality. ⚙️

Our answer: By using separate cooling systems for the pins and the core, controlled by air and nitrogen, heat was effectively dissipated, significantly reducing typical failure patterns.
👉 A solution that is unique within Woco.

💡 The result: A technologically advanced solution manufactured using an ABB 6-axis industrial robot. This product sets new standards in the combination of acoustics, design, and build quality 🥳

What happens to material knowledge from the world of combustion engines when everything suddenly becomes electric? ⚡️

This is precisely what Dr. Steffi Illner (Global Material Development Responsible) spoke about at the IKV colloquium at the "Institut für Kunststoffverarbeitung (IKV) in Industrie und Handwerk an der RWTH Aachen".

The switch from combustion engines to electric drives is not only changing vehicle concepts. Some technical conditions are also shifting, and much of the experience gained from previous technology can now only be applied to a limited extent. New media, different loads, and changed operating conditions mean that materials, especially plastics, need to be reevaluated. 📝🔄

For development and testing laboratories, such as our in-house laboratory at Woco, this means that material properties must be reevaluated, data expanded, and testing methods further developed. Topics such as electrical safety, flame retardancy, and interactions between plastics and media are becoming increasingly important. 🔬

At Woco, we are applying our many years of expertise in materials and testing to master these challenges and lay the foundations for applications in electromobility. 🫱🏻‍🫲🏽🥼

Woco impresses at the 23rd Automotive Award from SPE Central Europe! 🚘🏆
On October 6, the most innovative plastic applications in vehicle construction were honored. Woco scored twice 🎉

A success that shows: We are shaping the mobility of tomorrow.

🔋 First place in the “New Mobility” category for the thermal management module:
The compact, highly efficient module made of glass fiber-reinforced polyketone integrates pumps and valves, enabling intelligent thermal management with minimal installation space.
Fewer components, lower weight, higher energy efficiency – a clear contribution to sustainable electromobility.

🛞 Second place for the innovative front wall grommet in the “Body Exterior” category:
Thanks to the first-time use of a foamed E-TPE material, it improves tightness and acoustics, is recyclable, and is up to 20% lighter. An example of sustainable material innovation and functional design.

These awards are a strong signal of Woco’s innovative strength and an even stronger one for the team behind it. 💪

At the beginning of October, as every year, our graduation ceremony took place at headquarters🧑🏻‍🎓🥳

Once again this year, our trainees and dual students who successfully completed their degrees at Woco were able to celebrate together with their trainers, members of the management team, shareholders, and the works council.

After the official part, the trainees went out for dinner with their trainers and then went bowling.🎳🍕

As every year, the event was planned as part of a trainee project - by trainees for trainees 🫱🏻‍🫲🏽

We congratulate all graduates and thank the planning team for the great event 🙌🏻

Fresh start for our future talents⭐️

Twelve young talents have just started their training journey with the at our German locations. Their first stop: a multi-day introductory workshop full of new impressions, teamwork, and inspiration.

From interactive sessions to team challenges and a personal exchange with management – the program offered plenty of opportunities to connect, ask questions, and grow together as one team. 💬🤝

We are proud to see so much curiosity and motivation and wish our new colleagues a fantastic start into their professional future!

How do young talents at Woco headquarters learn about future technologies? For example, in the Industry 4.0 qualification project! 🔎🦾

From April to August 2025, our second-year trainees at headquarters developed a fully automated system with an automated guided vehicle system (AGVS), CNC milling machine, and fiber laser. You can see the result in the video in fast motion. 🎥

The project was implemented using the agile SCRUM method with sprints, feedback, and continuous development. The focus was on, among other things:

- Microcontrollers & embedded systems (Raspberry Pi Pico)
- Design & 3D printing
- Robotics & automation
- PLC programming & control technology
- AGV sensor technology & line tracking

Highlights: a workshop at MakeIT in Gelnhausen and a visit to the digital laboratory at the University of Kassel, where our trainees were able to learn about AI robots, VR, and exoskeletons, among other things.

The project not only imparted technical knowledge, but also valuable experience in teamwork and project management. These are skills that are indispensable in a digitalized working world. 💡
