We also thank all representatives and partners from Iraq and Germany who contributed to making this important step possible.

Five Months. One Municipal Solid Waste Material Recovery Facility. A Complete Transformation.

From an empty building to one of Brazil’s most advanced Municipal Solid Waste Material Recovery Facilities – our latest time-lapse video captures the complete construction of the new MRF in Brusque, Santa Catarina, from the first steel structures to full mechanical completion.

Designed and delivered through close collaboration between Sutco Brasil and Sutco RecyclingTechnik Germany, the facility was built for Ciclare in Brusque, Santa Catarina. Construction was completed within only five months, followed by one month of cold and hot commissioning and one month of final process optimisation.

With a processing capacity of 52 tonnes per hour (approximately 225,000 tonnes per year), the plant combines state-of-the-art mechanical, optical and manual sorting technologies to recover valuable recyclable materials from mixed municipal solid waste. The process is designed to recover PET, PP, HDPE, plastic films, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, as well as cardboard, while significantly reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill. Recovery rates of up to 93% for 3D PET, 3D PP and 3D HDPE underline the efficiency of the overall process concept.

The process integrates two trommel screens, ballistic separation, multiple NIR optical sorting systems, magnetic and eddy current separation, manual quality control stations and an automated baling system. Together, these technologies generate clean, high-quality material streams that can be returned to the circular economy.

Projects of this scale are only possible through strong collaboration. We would like to thank our customer, our dedicated project team, our engineering and commissioning specialists, our manufacturing teams, our local installation crews, and all technology partners whose expertise and commitment contributed to the successful delivery of this project.

We are proud of what has been achieved together and excited to see the facility now entering its final optimisation phase.

This year, Sutco Polska is proudly celebrating its 35th anniversary, a remarkable milestone reflected by decades of dedication, innovation and strong partnerships.

To mark this special occasion, the team came together for a jubilee celebration with a picnic, team-building activities, games and competitions. It was a joyful opportunity to celebrate together and honour the employees who have shaped Sutco Polska’s success over the years.

The festivities also included an anniversary cake, a speech by our owner and managing director, Michael Ludden, and Sutco Polska’s own Oscar Awards Gala, where employees were recognised for their outstanding commitment and long-term service.
