We're excited to have been part of the Berlin Energy Transition dialogue 2024! ☀

An energy transition that achieves 100% is possible - this simple message was the starting point for the dialogue that now entered its 10th edition. It is clearer today than ever how important this goal is to combat the .

We enjoyed the chance to meet with government representatives, business leaders, scientists, international organisations and NGOs from across the world at the inspiring 2-day event at the Auswärtiges Amt (Federal Foreign Office Germany). Only through the constant exchange and collaboration of all local and international stakeholders we will reach .

We are honoured to be able to contribute to the by providing and analysis on sustainable . And we were excited to see our CSO Thomas Duveau present our in-house engineered - stressing that by now, all small fuel generators can be replaced by solar alternatives, saving millions of tons of carbon.

Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue

📢 The Green Genset Facility (GGF) has officially been launched at the Transforming Energy Access Forum 2024 in Kigali! 🎉 ☀

This represents an exciting step for global efforts to replace fossil fuel-powered generators with renewable energy-based alternatives.

The GGF, a spin-off from the Access to Energy Institute, will make it simple and transparent for distributors to buy solar-powered generators, accelerating a move away from fossil fuel alternatives. The facility will address the lack of accessible and affordable working capital — seen as the biggest obstacle that distributors face in procuring solar generators from suppliers.

Through digital tracking of repayment and usage patterns, the facility will make it easier to buy stock to serve customers and grow distributors’ businesses, with the aim to improve livelihoods, as well as to reduce emissions and pollution in Africa. In a market due to exceed $20 billion in Nigeria alone, the facility will focus on unlocking the market for solar powered generators with the aim of raising $100 million in funding.

A new comprehensive report on electric cooking, written by authors at A2EI and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), details how countries are linking electric cooking to their climate commitments. It provides a review of the finance landscape today, and details how countries can scale finance for electric cooking.

The report was announced this week at COP28 at a high-level panel featuring IRENA’s Deputy General Director Gauri Singh.

The Access to Energy Institute celebrates its 5th anniversary! 🎉

Five years ago, we founded the to help solve two global problems: on the one hand, bringing sustainable and affordable electricity to all, and on the other hand to fight global warming.

We have achieved a lot so far - and we are working hard to continue to make comprehensive data, as well as reliable generators and DC appliances available to a greater number of stakeholders worldwide. 🌍 ☀

It has been a great pleasure and privilege to shape the A2EI over the past five years, together with many of you - team members, friends, and supporters. We are confident that by working collaboratively, we will be able to accelerate the pace towards reaching in the years to come!

Excellent initiative by our Nigerian partner Chromevoltech: They electrified Dutse Makaranta Primary Healthcare Center in the suburbs of Abuja, . The facility had been lacking power supply from the grid for over a year now.

As part of their program, Chromevolt installed an AAM3000 with 3x 420W Panels. The solar system is providing electricity to fridges for medications and vaccinations, as well as fans, lights, and lab equipment. It is powering the pharmacy, the labour and delivery room, the antenatal hall, the laboratory, and two hospital rooms for patients.

We are proud to be partnering with a local distributor that does not only tackle the challenges of providing green and reliable electricity to customers - but goes the extra mile to donate systems, and time and efforts, to institutions and people in need!

Working with both local and international partners, we aim to join hands to empower many more health facilities in the months and years to come - striving to .
