A 100 pL water droplet evaporates in about 1.7 seconds.

At this scale, evaporation starts immediately because the surface is large compared to the volume. Small changes in temperature, humidity or airflow already have a strong effect on how long the droplet remains stable.

This directly influences volume, concentration and also the available time window for optical inspection after dispensing.

Thatโ€™s why in picoliter applications, it is not enough to control the droplet generation. The surrounding conditions like humidity and temperature need to be controlled as well to achieve stable and reproducible results.

A fresh breeze for the Childrenโ€™s Ward

Hot summer days can push hospitals to their limits. With a targeted donation, weโ€™ve helped bring some relief to the childrenโ€™s ward at the Evangelisches Krankenhaus Ludwigsfelde-Teltow โ€“ and shown our connection to the region.
Despite the recent weeks of continuous rain, summer has a firm grip on Brandenburg. On particularly hot days, itโ€™s not only patients who feel the strain โ€“ hospital staff are also working at full capacity. Three new fans, recently donated by M2-Automation, are now helping to ease the burden on the childrenโ€™s ward.
The devices are already in use, improving the indoor climate through better air circulation โ€“ both in patient rooms and staff work areas. A small technical solution with a noticeable impact on daily operations.
The Evangelisches Krankenhaus Ludwigsfelde is an essential part of regional healthcare. With this donation, we aim to provide the childrenโ€™s ward team with practical, needs-based support for their important daily work.

๐•๐ข๐๐ž๐จ: The liquid is aspirated into the pin using only the capillary force. The pin with a tip diameter of 500 ยตm is then โ€œstampingโ€ of approx. 400 ยตm diameter onto a hydrophobic microscope slide. Dot-pitch: 500 ยตm. *Usually, there are 36 pins in 1 head.
