Low cost, quick and reliable mobile detection methods for microplastics are currently still dreams of the future. The research project SIM-QPla plans to change this. TOPTICA eagleyard is developing mobile detection methods for microplastics in water together with further project partners so that quantum photonics can be used for environmental sensor technology in the future.

Only a few days left until we can finally present the µMOPA to the world at the SPIE Photonics West.
Our latest innovation will mainly be used in Raman spectroscopy and interferometry. Due to the ease of use and the robustness of the package not only research applications will benefit from this compact and unique laser. Scalability enables the fulfillment of commercial and industry requirements better than other already available solutions so that this innovation will lead to outstanding results and applications along the value chain.

Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS): Due to their small linewidth and the high spectral stability, our DFB lasers enable gas detection even under difficult conditions. The common method applied in this field is TDLAS. Using laser diodes for Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) systems allows to build compact and rugged devices at low cost. Broad area lasers (BAL) provide high pulse energy. If beam quality and spectral resolution matters, Fabry-Perot lasers or DFB lasers are a good choice.
