We are officially relaunching our Peptide ABC, and want to answer your frequently asked questions about peptides. In the upcoming weeks we will share with you everything from peptide purities, dissolving your peptides, cross contamination to post-translational modifications!
Let us get started with peptide lengths:
Of course, the perfect peptide length depends on your application. For example, peptides with 10-20 amino acids (aa) in length are ideal for antibody generation, while peptides used to stimulate cytotoxic CD8+ cells should be 8-10 aa and 12-18 aa for stimulation of CD4+ cells.
However, you should also consider the possibilities and limitations in peptide synthesis. If the length of a peptide increases, so does the amount of impurities and the yield is reduced. While peptides with over 50 aa can be synthesized, the yield will be poorer compared to the yield of shorter peptides.
Our customer support will be happy to help you with any further questions regarding peptide length!
