Our colleague Saumya Mukherjee is currently attending the 7th European Workshop on Epitaxial Graphene and 2D Materials (EWEG/2D) in Fredericia, Denmark — a forum dedicated to the science of epitaxially grown 2D materials, covering everything from graphene and transition metal chalcogenides to topological materials and MXenes.

If you are at the conference, stop by and say hello. Saumya is happy to chat about your research and explore how we can support your work.

Tomorrow, Thursday, Saumya will give a talk titled "Multifunctional Momentum Microscope for 2D Material Research", presenting our NanoESCA product line and its applications in 2D materials science.

What if you could run ambient-pressure XPS at 1 bar — right on your lab?

Researchers from ShanghaiTech University have achieved something remarkable: ambient-pressure XPS measurements at a true 1 bar — using a laboratory-based setup. The key?

A de Laval nozzle generating a supersonic gas jet that creates a localized high-pressure zone just 15–20 µm above the sample surface, while keeping the analyzer operating under safe vacuum conditions.

The result: stable, reproducible Pt 4f spectra at full atmospheric pressure. A genuine milestone for operando surface science.

Midweek at the DPG 2026 Spring Meeting!

Greetings from Dresden, where our team is attending the DPG Spring Meeting on Condensed Matters.

The first day has been really fantastic – so many attendees showed great interest in our newly unveiled Nanonis 6th generation and our colleague Alessandro Pioda was happy to answer all questions and showcase live with the demo unit the new features.

At the same time the booth was always filled with discussions on the solutions from our other brands of SPECS, Focus, and Enviro.

If you’re there, you are more than welcome to visit us at the booth – we’ll be here until Thursday, March 12, 2026. We’re looking forward to connecting, discussing research, and find out how our products can support your work.

We were delighted to welcome Prof. Hyojung Park from the Clean-Energy Research Institute at Hanyang University!

During her visit, Prof. Park successfully completed training on our NAP-XPS system EnviroESCA, including modules such as EC-cell, laser heater and vacuum suitcase.

The Clean-Energy Research Institute at Hanyang University focusses on advancing materials and devices for clean energy conversion and storage — from novel catalysts and energy-materials to systems enabling next-generation energy technologies.

We look forward to seeing the exciting research she will carry out using our instrument across many different research fields!

From Quantum Spins to Controlled Nanostructures

How do you design a quantum state in graphene nanoribbons – or control the self-assembly of magnetic nanoislands? At LMA Zaragoza (https://lma.unizar.es/en/), Dr. David Serrate’s group demonstrates how precision at the atomic scale leads to transformative insights in quantum technology and surface engineering.

From Single Spins to High-Temperature Dynamics

What does it take to explore the quantum world at 1 K – and then study catalytic reactions above 1000 K? At Spain’s Laboratorio de Microscopías Avanzadas (LMA; https://lma.unizar.es/en/), Dr. David Serrate and his team push the frontiers of materials research with SPECS SPM systems.

Many greetings from Charlotte, North Carolina also known as the "Queen City" where we showcase at the .

Our colleagues Natalie Wasio, Melissa Marx, Hannah Dolan, Edward Nelson, Jessica Hilton, Gilbère Mannie & Andreas Thissen are inviting all visitors to come by and say hello @ booth #301.

New technical developments will be presented on Tuesday morning at 10:30am in the Exhibitor Spotlight Session.

By the way: You will also find nanosurf and Unisoku products in the sales program of our US colleagues at SPECS-TII. Our colleague Edward Nelson, specialist for nanosurf products, will have the nanosurf AFM for sample measurements at the booth—a great opportunity to have him demonstrate this system to you!
