Housing Complex - Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
A housing compound structured around four courtyards and a central plaza, composing a contemporary reinterpretation of the region’s traditional courtyard house.
Each courtyard draws from a different oasis: Jáibar, Al-Hasa, Taima, Dumat Al-Jandal. Four geometries, four atmospheres, each shaped by traditional patterns, each carrying its own identity.
The units are organized around two townhouse typologies. A single module, displaced, doubled, and rotated, generates the building’s entire composition, producing private terraces, stepped façades, and a textured surface that breaks down the scale of the perimeter. The stacked units form a web of terraces and balconies opening onto the oasis patios and the plaza below.
A semi-covered roof spans the complex, echoing the protected character of traditional Middle Eastern structures.
A reflection of privacy without isolation.
