What does 'local' mean when your maritime crane needs service? For us, it means being there when our customers need support.

We have a long-established presence in Belgium, with Liebherr-Belgium in Antwerp and Liebherr Appliances Belgium in Ternat. But for crane operators at the quayside, local presence matters most when it means practical support for their machines.

A luffing cylinder exchange on an LHM 550 gives us a practical example of our maritime service offering in Belgium. But the work goes beyond the component itself. Our service portfolio also includes technical support to identify suitable parts solutions and specialist field engineers, helping customers get the support they need, when they need it.

When terminals need more capacity, rebuilding the entire quay is rarely an option.

Rail tracks, conveyor systems, truck routes and storage areas have often evolved over decades. They are essential to daily operations and cannot simply be moved.

So how can a terminal create more capacity without having to start from scratch?

This is where the Liebherr LPS comes in. Its portal design allows the crane to work within existing terminal layouts. This helps terminals make better use of the infrastructure they already have while keeping operations running.

From the LPS 180 to the LPS 800, the range offers different solutions for different cargo handling requirements.

During a scheduled shutdown, our service engineers joined forces with the team at RIPLEY & CO. Stevedoring & Handling PVT. Ltd. to perform extensive maintenance and repair work on an LHM 425.

To make the most of the available shutdown time, several jobs were carried out in parallel. These included replacing the closing winch gearbox, repairing the holding winch, inspecting the slewing bearing and replacing the engine flywheel housing.

Thanks to close coordination between RIPLEY’s site team and our service engineers, the full scope of work was completed in around five days.

Our recent Offshore Summit brought customers, partners and colleagues together for hands-on product insights, technical discussions, presentations and workshops.

The conversations gave us the opportunity to hear directly from crane operators, exchange perspectives and consider the challenges they face in their daily operations.

Thank you to everyone who travelled to our plant in Rostock, Germany, and shared their experience and ideas. Your insights help us further improve our solutions for specific offshore applications.

A smooth line traced in steel across the waterfront.

At the Port of Morehead City in the US, our LPS 420 travels along a rail track with a 90-degree curve. Its specially designed running gear allows the crane to follow the rail track around the corner and reach the different quay edges.

Part of the North Carolina Ports network, Morehead City serves as a deep-water gateway for bulk and breakbulk cargo.
