AMSAT-DL-Projekte folgen streng dem "Open Source"-Prinzip. Das bedeutet, daß die entwickelten Techniken und Verfahren einsehbar und durch Dritte verwendet werden können. Dies gilt auch für die Erkenntnisse und Forschungsergebnisse, die im operativen Betrieb gewonnen werden.

In July, Bochum transmitted by far the most data from STEREO-A’s Space Weather Beacon to the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Centre (SWPC). We have been doing this 24/7 since 2009. The data is important for monitoring space weather and its impact on Earth and radio wave propagation; it is also very important for amateur radio operators and shortwave radio.
