100,000+ miles and still going strong.

The thermoplastic Pentatonic battery enclosure was installed in a real test vehicle to validate the system under practical driving conditions beyond the lab. The test drives covered different road environments, temperatures and usage scenarios to build confidence in real-world performance.

After 100,000+ miles of real-world driving, our Pentatonic battery enclosure was scanned, removed and reviewed in detail.

The result: a strong condition after demanding use, confirming the robustness of our fully composite Pentatonic battery enclosure.

Did you know that Kautex's Pentatonic battery enclosure includes an integrated burst feature designed to support thermal runaway venting?

In many large cylindrical cell formats, thermal runaway gases are vented downward. Within the Pentatonic architecture, these gases are directed toward a custom-developed burst feature. When activated, the feature opens and creates a controlled pathway for hot gases and particles to move into the underbody protection (UBP) space, helping keep them away from surrounding cells before they are evacuated through dedicated pack vents.

To validate the concept, Kautex moved beyond simulation and tested the feature on real hardware. Testing began at coupon level, focusing on mechanical performance, manufacturing technology, and the burst feature itself, before advancing to system-level validation covering the most critical mechanical and thermal load cases. A dedicated thermal runaway test confirmed that hot gas evacuation worked as intended while thermal propagation was avoided.

The burst feature is part of Kautex's broader Pentatonic battery enclosure portfolio and has been validated for series production use. It combines lightweight composite materials, integrated thermal runaway venting, and underbody protection solutions designed to support next-generation electrified vehicles.

Did you know that Kautex validates Pentatonic battery enclosure technology through real-world hardware testing, not just simulation?

To confirm performance under demanding conditions, Pentatonic solutions undergo extensive validation testing in line with global regulatory requirements. Testing starts at coupon level, evaluating mechanical performance, before progressing to system-level validation.

The validation program includes vibration, mechanical shock, crush, crash, and impact testing, as well as thermal evaluations testing the performance of the cooling design and thermal runaway tests with venting of hot gases.

By combining advanced simulation with rigorous hardware validation, Kautex helps ensure Pentatonic battery enclosure solutions are ready for the demanding requirements of next-generation electrified vehicles.

As part of the recently published Textron 2025 Corporate Responsibility Report, Kautex is proud to showcase the progress we have made in advancing sustainable mobility, circular innovation, operational efficiency, and employee development.

In 2025, Kautex continued advancing the Pentatonic battery enclosure portfolio, supporting the transition to electrified mobility with new orders for battery systems used in hybrid and battery-electric vehicles. Kautex also expanded its Green+ portfolio, moving products containing recycled and bio-based materials from innovation toward commercialization, with production of bio-based fuel tanks scheduled to begin in North America in 2026.

We also strengthened our commitment to circularity through the Gabriela research project, which demonstrated that closed-loop recycling of Pentatonic battery enclosure materials is technically feasible. The project established a validated pathway for integrating recycled materials into future production while supporting more resource-efficient manufacturing.

Beyond our products, we continued improving the sustainability of our operations. Highlights included renewable electricity sourcing for our European operations, energy-efficiency measures at our Muskegon facility expected to save approximately 2 GWh annually, and a rainwater recovery system in Silao, Mexico, helping conserve water in a region where every drop matters.

Our people remained at the center of this progress. During 2025, Kautex introduced the Shopfloor Career Path Model to support employee growth and internal mobility, while our Bonn team launched a comprehensive well-being program that achieved participation rates exceeding 90% across preventive health initiatives.

100,000+ miles proven in real-world operation.

Following installation, our fully composite Pentatonic battery enclosure accumulated more than 100,000 miles across a wide range of driving conditions, temperatures, and road environments.

This extended on-road validation provided valuable insight into the enclosure's long-term structural integrity, durability, and performance under real operating conditions, well beyond controlled laboratory testing.

Did you know that a packaging solution can start as a digital concept before becoming a finished product?

At Kautex, customized bottles and jerrycans are developed in close collaboration with customers. The process begins with a specific packaging requirement and is supported by experienced teams from the initial idea through series production.

Using Computer Aided Design (CAD) and 3D visualization, packaging concepts can be developed and refined digitally. Kautex then creates rapid prototype models using 3D printing, enabling prototypes and samples to be evaluated early in the development process.

This approach helps accelerate prototype development, supports pilot tool creation, shortens development time, and reduces development risks while allowing packaging solutions to be tailored to specific customer requirements.

Did you know that CWC helps students explore careers in manufacturing through hands-on experiences?

Recently, CWC Textron Castings participated in an interactive career exploration event that gives middle and high school students the opportunity to discover careers in high-demand industries. Approximately 9,000 students attended this year's event.

At the CWC booth, students explored the world of metal casting through demonstrations and interactive materials. They were also introduced to SPOT and learned more about the materials and processes used in foundry operations.

Students had the opportunity to see footage from the melt department, including the iron-pouring process, providing a behind-the-scenes look at how cast metal components are produced.

By participating in events like MiCareerQuest, CWC helps introduce young people to careers in manufacturing while showcasing the expertise, innovation, and teamwork behind modern industrial operations.
