Our partner Standard Biocarbon is doing great things in Maine with the help of biochar produced from PYREG technology.
Scientists have proven that farm fields across Maine, and much of the U.S., are contaminated with toxic PFAS chemicals stemming from the widespread application of sewage sludge as fertilizer. Referred to as ‘forever chemicals’, PFAS are known to be harmful and cause many health issues for both humans and animals.
Maine is working with Standard Biocarbon to conduct research studies of applying PYREG-produced biochar to farmland to combat the PFAS infestation and to reduce PFAS absorption into crops.

New project alert!
PYREG is partnering with A Healthier Earth to
build the UK’s largest biochar operation.
PYREG negative-emissions technology will be used to convert local organic waste into high-quality biochar and this project will have the potential to remove up to 17,000 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere annually, while also creating valuable carbon credits.

Researchers are finding that taking biosolids from municipal wastewater treatment facilities and converting them into biochar effectively eliminates >99% of harmful PFAS, microplasics and PPCPs while also generating revenue. Sounds like a

Sweden, here we come! We’ll be attending the 2nd annual Swedish Conference on Sewage Sludge Biochar hosted by our friends at Sweden Water Research where we’ll meet with other professionals and researchers and talk all things sewage sludge pyrolysis and biochar.
Our own Marcel Rensmann will be giving a presentation about using PYREG technology to convert sewage sludge waste into high-quality, valuable biochar.
