The nominees are evaluated on 20 main quantitative and qualitative criteria, which include disruptive impact, market footprint, proof of concept, financial performance, technology innovation, social value, quality of management, ex*****on of strategy, and integration into their respective industries.

This unique assessment of potential is complemented by a review of the track record and standing of a company, which allows Red Herring to see past the “buzz” and make the list a valuable instrument for discovering and advocating the greatest business opportunities in the industry.

Finalists for the 2017 edition of the Red Herring 100 Europe award are selected based upon their technological innovation, management strength, market size, investor record, customer acquisition, and financial health. During the months leading up to the announcement, Red Herring reviewed over 1200 companies in the telecommunications, security, cloud, software, hardware, biotech, mobile and other industries that completed their submissions to qualify for the award.

The finalists are invited to present their winning strategies at the Red Herring Europe Forum in Amsterdam, April 24- 26, 2017. The Top 100 winners will be announced at a special awards ceremony on the evening of April 26 at the event.

Additional Funding for Volterion

We are very happy to announce that Thomas Mathenia, retired CTO of Energieversorgung Oberhausen AG and deeply involved in the German utility sector as well as Eugen Hahn Owner and CEO of Lemetco GmbH have joined Volterion by way of a Business Angel investment.

We are very much looking forward to working with these successfull business leaders and benefiting from their experience in the utilities, energy storage and materials industry.

This latest Angel investment increases our total funds raised to €2.3 million, which includes non-dilutive grants and significant equity investments from the founders and Fraunhofer Venture.

The Volterion-Team spent a busy day presenting our Redox-Flow Battery solutions to German utilities Gelsenwasser AG, Energieversorgung Oberhausen AG, Stadtwerke Herne, AG, Stadtwerke Bochum AG and Thüga AG. Great to see the interest in our redox-flow batteries and we are very much looking forward to deploying some of our mid-sized storage systems for larger residential and commercial energy storage applications together with these utilities.

We are very happy to announce that Volterion together with Fraunhofer UMSICHT and German utility company Stadtwerke Herne AG has secured a €1.3 million grant from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the EU. The consortium was previously a winner oft he grant competition „EnergieUmweltwirtschaft.NRW” and has received the funding for developing, installing and integrating Redox-Flow-Batteries in larger residential and commercial buildings. The project is part of the „SMART-TEC-STWH“-Initiative of Stadtwerke Herne, which offers its customers new energy efficient solutions via innovative business models like swarm solutions (network of multiple smart energy storage systems).

As part of the project Volterion will be installing its RFB-Systems in various residential and commercial buildings in the Herne district of North Rhine-Westphalia

We are looking forward to working with our partners and the residential and commercial end users.
