🚀 𝗔𝗜 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗯𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗽𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹

At the Wilo Industry Insights Forum 2026 in Vancouver, we brought together leaders from industry, research and technology to explore a critical question: What truly enables the AI revolution?

A key takeaway from Ramy Nasser's keynote on the AI Efficiency Paradox was that while AI drives productivity, increased efficiency often leads to increased consumption and demand. The challenge is ensuring that this growth remains sustainable.

Our discussions reinforced that the biggest constraints to AI may not be computing power alone. Increasingly, the bottlenecks are:

⛏️ Investment in new mining projects and access to the critical minerals needed for the digital economy
⚡ Energy availability to power AI infrastructure and data centres
💧 Water availability for mining, energy generation and cooling systems
🏗️ Resilient infrastructure capable of supporting exponential digital growth

The forum also highlighted how 𝗪𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗥 𝗔𝗜 applications are already helping optimise water and energy systems through predictive maintenance, operational intelligence and improved efficiency. At Wilo, we are already leveraging AI to make water systems smarter, more efficient and more sustainable, bringing our vision of Pioneering WATER AI for You to life.

Discussions on the future of data centres reinforced the growing importance of advanced cooling, water reuse, energy efficiency and system-wide optimisation as key enablers of sustainable AI infrastructure.

The conclusion was clear: the sustainable AI challenge is not only a supply problem. It is also an efficiency problem. At Wilo, we believe that water is more than a resource behind the AI revolution. It is a strategic enabler across the entire digital value chain.
