200 million. That is how many bacteria can be on your hands after a washroom visit, and nothing on your Halloween list is as creepy.

Germs are scarier than you think, because you cannot see them and they love to travel. A study of 4,000 people in a public washroom showed that 1 in 10 did not wash their hands at all, 1 in 3 skipped the soap and all the others did not wash long enough.

How do you beat something that invisible? With soap and a little more time. Soap is the most effective way to stop germs from spreading, and at work it also means less cross contamination and fewer absences.

ISO certifications might not be the flashiest part of a Responsibility Report. They are still an important part of how commitments become consistent practice.

In 2025, 88 CWS Hygiene sites were covered by ISO certifications for quality management, environmental management and occupational health and safety: ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

These certifications form part of a wider governance approach supported by policies, training, reporting channels and external assessment. They help us manage risks, strengthen accountability and build trust across our business.

A dispenser stops working as it should. Is that the end of the story? Not necessarily.

Our first step is repair. If that cannot be completed at the customer’s location, the dispenser can be sent to one of our Act Circular Centres in Germany, the Netherlands or Croatia. There, trained teams repair and clean it before returning it to use.

In 2025, we refurbished 28,658 dispensers, compared with 16,853 in 2024. If a dispenser cannot be refurbished, intact components are kept as spare parts and the remaining plastic enters a recycling process.
That is how one ending can become a new beginning.

There is no single answer to tackle waste but there are many practical ones.
At CWS Hygiene, our approach includes keeping products in use through repair and refurbishment, recovering usable parts and sending materials into recycling processes where possible. We also track waste across our operations so that we can identify where further improvement is needed.

Mark 15 October in your calendar, because it is Global Handwashing Day and your hands have a lot to say.

In our towel laundries, water is not finished after one job.

Our cotton towel rolls move through multiple interconnected chambers. As a roll progresses, the water becomes cleaner. Within the tunnel washer process, 90% of the water is filtered and returned to the start. In many cases, wastewater from the process is then routed to the first stages of the mat washing line.

The remaining 10% stays in the towels and evaporates during ironing. Even the released steam has another task, helping to keep the boilers at temperature through a heat recovery system.

Because resource efficiency starts with looking at every part of the process.

We are expanding our floorcare services in Germany.

CWS Hygiene has agreed to acquire the business of Trautwein Mattenservice, a regional floorcare rental and washroom services provider based in Leonberg, Germany.

Founded in 1989, Trautwein Mattenservice has served customers in the Stuttgart region for over 35 years. After completion, its customer contracts will join the CWS Hygiene German service network.

This regional bolt-on supports our buy-and-build strategy in Europe and strengthens our ability to serve customers in one of Germany’s key economic regions.

We look forward to welcoming Trautwein customers to CWS Hygiene and ensuring a smooth continuation of service.
