Ein Jahr nach dem Spatenstich: Richtfest am Justizzentrum Frankfurt 🏗️⚖️

Ein Meilenstein für eines der bedeutendsten Justizprojekte in Hessen: Rund ein Jahr nach der Grundsteinlegung sind die Rohbauten der neuen Gebäude C und Z am Justizzentrum Frankfurt erfolgreich abgeschlossen.

HOCHTIEF realisiert das Projekt gemeinsam mit dem Land Hessen in einer öffentlich-privaten Partnerschaft – von der Planung und Finanzierung über den Bau bis hin zum 30-jährigen Betrieb

Zum Projekt auf einen Blick:

📍 Standort und Größe: Neubauten an der Konstablerwache in Frankfurt am Main mit rund 38.500 m² Bruttogeschossfläche für Gerichte, Staatsanwaltschaften und Justizbehörden

🏛️ Nutzung und Funktion: Gebäude C als Strafrechtsgebäude mit Büroflächen und zwei Hochsicherheitssitzungssälen, Gebäude Z unter anderem für Oberlandesgericht, Generalstaatsanwaltschaft und Justizprüfungsamt

🌱 Nachhaltigkeit und Technik: Hohe Energieeffizienz unter anderem durch EG-40-Standard, Fotovoltaik-Anlagen auf den Dachflächen, Fernwärmeversorgung und Wasserrückgewinnung

A look inside our Metro Vienna project 🚇

At depths of up to 30 meters, our teams are working on the new U2×U5 interchange project in Vienna – a key future transport hub for the city. The HOCHTIEF Infrastructure Austria teams are working with partners to convert the existing Rathaus station into a line interchange with the U5, to build the new Frankhplatz station and approximately 4 kilometers of additional subway.

The network branches off at Rathaus station and leads to the new U5 line, which will operate fully automatically between Karlsplatz and Frankhplatz. The expansion enables higher capacity, more frequent services – and a significant reduction in emissions: up to 75,000 tons of CO₂ can be saved by shifting traffic to public transport.

Die Aufnahme tritt am 22. Juni 2026 in Kraft und ist ein bedeutendes Ereignis in der mehr als 150-jährigen Geschichte des Konzerns.

A logistical feat spanning continents 🌏

In a joint venture our Australian colleagues at UGL and CPB Contractors are working on the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of the western portion of Transgrid’s HumeLink energy transmission project in New South Wales. In a complex logistics operation underpinned by safety control measures, planning and traffic management, the first of 15 transformers has now reached its destination at Maragle Substation.

The HumeLink transmission project is one of the state’s largest energy infrastructure projects, with about 365 kilometers of cables and a range of new and upgraded substations. It will significantly increase the capacity of the electricity network in Australia’s eastern states.

💬 Direkter Dialog: HOCHTIEF-Azubis treffen das Top-Management

Zwei Tage intensiver Austausch, Diskussionen zu zentralen Themen und gemeinsames Feedback: Auszubildende aus ganz Deutschland – aus gewerblichen, technischen und kaufmännischen Bereichen – kamen zusammen, um sich zu vernetzen, Erfahrungen zu teilen und neue Impulse mitzunehmen.

✨ Ein Highlight war die Gesprächsrunde mit HOCHTIEF-Vorständin Martina Steffen und Jörg Laue, CFO von HOCHTIEF Infrastructure. 👉 Die Azubis fragten sie nach Karrierewegen und Meilensteinen ebenso wie nach Routinen für Auftritte vor großem Publikum.

Nach dem Programm wurde der Austausch in lockerer Atmosphäre fortgesetzt. 🤝

Big step forward for greener transport on Sydney Harbour ⚡

Australian HOCHTIEF company UGL, through its subsidiary UGL Transport, is working with Transport for NSW (TfNSW) to design and deliver shoreside charging for Sydney Ferries first battery electric ferry (e‑ferry).

Our colleagues will design and deliver high-voltage connections to ferry wharves, modify marine structures to accommodate shoreside charging infrastructure, and install high-powered chargers and associated electrical equipment. The project will give TfNSW the opportunity to trial its first e‑ferry and gather valuable operational insights as part of the pilot, helping shape the future of low‑emissions marine transport.

This will be the first marine charging infrastructure of its kind in Australia and marks the beginning of the transition to e-ferries on Sydney Harbour. UGL is a market leader in new energy solutions across Australia and has demonstrated its commitment to delivering sustainable mobility solutions for its transport partners.

ACS and HOCHTIEF Group companies Turner Construction Company and FlatironDragados have been recognized among the industry’s leading firms in the latest Engineering News Record rankings. 🏆

⬆️ Turner was again ranked number one overall in the ENR Top 400 Contractors list, marking its sixth consecutive year at the top.
Turner also ranked first in domestic building and manufacturing revenue and significantly advanced its position among contractors working internationally as a result of expansion in global markets. The company also increased its ranking in the telecommunications sector, reflecting continued growth in advanced technology and data center construction.

Im Auftrag des Land Berlin – vertreten durch die BIM Berliner Immobilienmanagement GmbH – haben wir den Bestandsbau fit für die Zukunft gemacht: mit neuer Fassade, moderner Gebäudetechnik und einem nachhaltigen Energiekonzept.

Groundbreaking in Herne: Construction of YEXIO Data Center begins

HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions and Palladio Partners launch construction of the YEXIO data center at FunkenbergQuartier in Herne. The facility will initially provide two megawatts of IT capacity for the local economy, with expansion potential to four megawatts. Designed as an edge data center located close to users, it reduces data transmission times and strengthens local data sovereignty.

“The local economy and municipal enterprises need secure data infrastructure right on their doorstep in order to operate with full independence,” said Bernd Holtwick, CFO and COO of HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions. “This is exactly the kind of digital sovereignty we are creating in Herne, delivering a fully integrated solution – from financing and low‑carbon construction through to reliable operation.”

The project is part of HOCHTIEF’s strategy to develop a European network of sustainable edge data centers. Herne is the fourth data center site, with work progressing at other German locations.

The YEXIO data center is designed for low‑carbon operation and sustainable construction:
💡will run on 100 per cent renewable electricity

🪵 mass timber and prefabricated modules reduce the building’s carbon footprint by around 600 tons compared with conventional construction
💧 direct water cooling of servers: closed‑loop system for significantly higher energy efficiency than conventional air‑cooling systems
🌡️ waste heat made available to the local energy system
🌿 green façade and intelligent rainwater management: improves local microclimate and biodiversity

As a user of the Herne data center, Yorizon will offer sustainable cloud computing and green IT services to enterprises and public‑sector organisations. For the City of Herne, the data center is a central component of its digitalization strategy. Completion is scheduled for autumn 2027.
