PART 3/3
Making air visible. Changing the game.
Together with Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe, and the Catesby Projects team, we brought our Shake-the-Box (STB) 3D particle tracking technique into the heart of WorldTour aero testing – a Lagrangian PIV method that follows individual tracer particles in space and time.

Every watt counts – that’s why our LaVision STB setup in the Catesby Tunnel captures full-scale 3D flow around rider and bike instead of just a single drag number. It delivers detailed velocity information and particle tracks that reveal separation zones and vortices, helping engineers validate CFD, complement wind-tunnel and track testing and close the gap between simulation and real-world performance.

This project is much more than a spectacular laser shot: it shows how optical measurement technology can unlock new performance insights – in cycling, motorsport and other high-performance sports where every watt counts.

If you’re working on high-performance aero and want to move beyond trial-and-error testing, let’s connect and explore how STB and advanced optical measurement can support your next steps.
