BFE is located in Geretsried, about 40 km south of Munich. The company is integrated in the BF Maschinen GmbH group. BF-Engineering GmbH was founded 2010 as a subsidiary of BF Maschinen GmbH, to develop and produce professional lighting systems, in particular irradiation systems in the field of testing. BFE is specialized in sun simulation systems in the automotive, military and photovoltaic area.

Moreover we are experts on high speed lighting systems, especially for crash and airbag test stands. Furthermore contact BF-Engineering for all technical requirements, where professional, innovative and customer-oriented solutions for irradiation and lighting systems are needed.

During this year’s EXPO 2026 in Istanbul, our colleague Sebastian Leupold experienced firsthand one key development that became especially evident throughout the event: the global increase in defense investments is significantly accelerating demand for testing and qualification technologies.
As countries continue to invest heavily in military systems, infrastructure and equipment, the need for reliable environmental and performance testing is growing accordingly.

This was reflected in many of the conversations held during the exhibition. Interest in solar simulation and environmental testing solutions has increased noticeably, particularly for applications where products must perform reliably under demanding real-world conditions. From drones and vehicles to protective equipment and electronic systems, testing against environmental influences such as solar radiation is becoming increasingly important to ensure long-term durability, compliance and operational readiness.

For BF Engineering GmbH, the exhibition was a valuable opportunity to exchange insights with industry partners, strengthen existing relationships and gain firsthand perspective on the evolving needs of the market. We were especially pleased to be present together with our long-standing partner Star Teknik Elektronik Cih. San. ve Tic. Ltd. Şti. with whom we have been working closely for many years in the Turkish market.

👉 Industry standards don’t evolve on their own - they are shaped through collaboration between experts across the industry.

Last week, our colleagues Daniel Breuer and Andreas Bauer represented BF Engineering GmbH at a solar simulation expert meeting dedicated to the revision of DIN 75220.

The ad-hoc working group met at OSRAM in Herbrechtingen, bringing together specialists from across the industry to discuss potential updates and improvements to the DIN-standard.

The discussions provided a valuable platform for technical exchange and helped identify key areas for the further development.

As the global market leader in solar simulation systems, we are taking the responsibility to contribute our expertise and practical experience to this important process. We appreciate the open and constructive collaboration within the working group and look forward to supporting the next steps in the revision of the standard.
