Lighting Systems BF-Engineering GmbH is the expert for planning, manufacturing and realization of sun simulation systems and industrial irradiation.

BFE is located in Geretsried, about 40 km south of Munich. The company is integrated in the BF Maschinen GmbH group. BF-Engineering GmbH was founded 2010 as a subsidiary of BF Maschinen GmbH, to develop and produce professional lighting systems, in particular irradiation systems in the field of testing. BFE is specialized in sun simulation systems in the automotive, military and photovoltaic area.

Moreover we are experts on high speed lighting systems, especially for crash and airbag test stands. Furthermore contact BF-Engineering for all technical requirements, where professional, innovative and customer-oriented solutions for irradiation and lighting systems are needed.

👉 Industry standards don’t evolve on their own - they are shaped through collaboration between experts across the industry.

Last week, our colleagues Daniel Breuer and Andreas Bauer represented BF Engineering GmbH at a solar simulation expert meeting dedicated to the revision of DIN 75220.

The ad-hoc working group met at OSRAM in Herbrechtingen, bringing together specialists from across the industry to discuss potential updates and improvements to the DIN-standard.

The discussions provided a valuable platform for technical exchange and helped identify key areas for the further development.

As the global market leader in solar simulation systems, we are taking the responsibility to contribute our expertise and practical experience to this important process. We appreciate the open and constructive collaboration within the working group and look forward to supporting the next steps in the revision of the standard.

At booth #5160, we received outstanding feedback from industry leaders and initiated significant new projects in the automotive and railway sectors.

Through Made in Germany innovation, BF Engineering continues to set the global standard in solar simulation systems – strengthening our role as the trusted technology leader.

BF now generating solar power with 80 kWp PV system!

In July 2025, we put a new photovoltaic system with an output of 80.1 kWp into operation. The system consists of 178 modules (450 Wp each) and covers an area of around 356 m² on our flat roof.

The solar power generated is mainly consumed directly in the company. In addition, a battery storage system with a capacity of 21 kWh ensures that we can also draw on our own electricity when the sun is not shining. In total, we cover over 85% of our annual electricity requirements ourselves.

Some of the electricity generated is used for our electric vehicles. A total of six electric vehicles are charged with PV-optimized charging management, which massively reduces our mobility costs. The self-consumption share of the entire system is 43.5%, while we feed around 45 MWh into the grid each year.

With this system, we will avoid almost 37 tons of CO₂ per year in the future and thus sustainably improve our environmental footprint. The investment also pays off economically: with a calculated amortization period of less than 10 years, the PV system makes a noticeable contribution to reducing our energy costs.

We would like to thank Wammetsberger Elektrotechnik & Photovoltaik for the professional planning and installation of this system and are delighted to have taken another step towards a CO₂-neutral future.

The automatic height adjustment enables maintenance and service work to be carried out comfortably at a height of 1.6 m from the ground – safely and efficiently. In addition, the system can be positioned at any desired height to realistically test a wide range of vehicle sizes.

The system is currently undergoing internal testing – installation at the customer's site will follow shortly.

BF optimizes the setup of solar simulation systems:
Thanks to an improved design and our team's expertise, mechanical installation is now significantly more efficient. Even for new roller test benches or test chambers that have never been in operation before, we ensure a swift commissioning process within the overall project.
Our customers benefit from shorter installation times, reduced costs, and a streamlined project ex*****on. This means test facilities are quickly up and running again, allowing experiments to continue without lengthy interruptions.
