Last week we attend the Shippax Conference in Genoa. 🛳️ The event offered many interesting presentations as well as talks about current developments and innovations in the RoRo and RoPax industry.

But most of all, it was all about connecting with people. We had the chance to meet long-standing business partners, have great conversations, and make many new contacts along the way.

We were also proud to see the several projects we were involved in being positively highlighted throughout the conference. It is always great to see successful collaborations and shared achievements being recognized within the industry.

The route from Genoa to Sardinia and back created a unique atmosphere and the perfect setting for networking, exchanging ideas, discussing future opportunities and projects.

A big thank you to everyone involved for the inspiring conversations, valuable insights, and organization.

Silence is a luxury and a science. 🤫

Take a look inside our R&M sound laboratory in Neumünster!
Here we perform advanced acoustic checks on our maritime accommodation systems as well as customer-based constructions to ensure the highest standards of sound insulation.

Our laboratory consists of two rooms that are completely decoupled from the building structure to prevent any background noise: We use dodecahedral loudspeakers and rotating microphones to measure sound insulation with absolute precision.

We don’t just measure, we experience: We use the laboratory to simulate engines under full load so that our team understands the physical effects of noise and the importance of even the smallest details during installation.

Why we do it?
To deliver cost-efficient, customized, and expert-led solutions that save our customers time and ensure peace on the high seas. ✨

R&M wishes all followers, customers, partners and employees a happy Easter and warm spring wishes!

Interior Trends 2026 in Shipbuilding 🚢

From marine-grade nature looks and sustainable materials to smart cabins, faster refit cycles, and acoustics as a design statement: in 2026, onboard interior design will become warmer, smarter, and even more consistently functional.
Which trend will be your game changer?

Nature-Vibes Onboard 🌱
Biophilic Design – robust, safe, and low-maintenance.
Bringing warmth on board: wood and stone finishes, soft lines, warm lighting, and green accents.
The key: executed with marine-grade, moisture-, salt-, and abrasion-resistant finishes for real-life durability.

Sustainability as the new standard ♻️
Recycled, recyclable – and designed to endure intensive use.
Guests are increasingly focused on materials: recycled and recyclable surfaces, upcycled elements, and low-impact decisions.
At the same time, durability is more important than ever – particularly in heavily used public spaces.

Small Space, Smart Luxury 💡
Solo travel and flexible occupancy are reshaping cabins.
More single cabins and studio concepts – focused on smart functionality rather than simply adding more square meters.
Space is being reimagined: modular furniture, hidden storage, flexible zones – right through to sleeping pod concepts.

Quick Refits, Big Impact
Modular, interchangeable, and quick to install. 💪
Shipping companies are investing heavily in modernizations – from look & feel to suites and public areas.
There is strong demand for solutions that work within short dry dock periods: modules, plug-and-play components, and prefabricated elements – quickly installed, delivering strong results.

Quiet Luxury – Designed to Be Heard ✨
Acoustics made visible and beautiful.
Acoustics no longer hide behind technology: sound-absorbing ceilings and walls, textured surfaces, and material combinations.
“Silent design” noticeably enhances comfort – especially in cabins, lounges, restaurants, and workspaces.
