Is today's encryption still an effective safeguard?
In the September 2026 issue of "Compliance" (Fachmedien Recht und Wirtschaft), together with Anja Schmitz of Projektas GmbH we explore exactly this question. The article looks at the risks of "Harvest Now, Decrypt Later" and "Trust Now, Forge Later", explains why data with long retention periods is especially exposed, and outlines why organizations should start their transition to post-quantum cryptography now, not once quantum computers arrive.
With the EU aiming to migrate critical systems by 2030 and NIST deprecating RSA-2048 on a similar timeline, this is no longer a topic for the future. It's a compliance and risk management question today.

On June 1st, we officially joined the QDD research project as a partner responsible for security analysis and the evaluation of application scenarios.
The project focuses on researching and developing a hybrid PQC–QKD architecture designed to establish a scalable and secure quantum communication infrastructure for Germany and Europe.

The event brings together researchers, founders, investors, industry leaders, and policymakers to discuss the challenges and opportunities of DeepTech innovation and technology transfer.

Cybersecurity never rests! Two week ago I had the opportunity to join the AI in Cybersec - Project Glasswing VIP Showcase and meet many Belgium Cybersec experts. The central topics were the vulnerability detection capabilities by Mythos and other AI models and their threat potential in the hands of criminals and geopolitical players. Project Glasswing analyzes the mythos capabilities in a very restricted group of organizations.

No European organization is part of this initiative. Therefore, we must leverage the chances of the available tool capabilities on our own.

Next week, we will be participating in the Cyberresilienz 2026 event hosted by the Wirtschaftsförderung Hannover.

I will be presenting the topic of the transition to Post-Quantum Cryptography, a key building block for future-proof cyber resilience in an increasingly complex threat landscape.
