New space for thousands of workplaces 🏢

At first glance, the façade of the BNP Paribas Fortis headquarters in Brussels appears calm and restrained. A closer look reveals its defining feature: a finely ribbed concrete texture that brings rhythm and movement to the building envelope.

This texture was created with custom RECKLI UNIQUE formliners and implemented in close collaboration with our partner , who produced and installed the GFRC façade elements using its FİBROCEPHE®/FİBROPANEL® systems.

Designed by .eberle.architects, and Styfhals & Partners, the project creates around 4,500 workplaces in the heart of Brussels.

With approximately 100,000 m² of building area and around 4,000 m² of textured concrete surface, “Montagne du Parc” is an impressive example of how surface design, serial production and technical precision can come together in one façade.

A Place That Brings the City Together

The Calgary Central Library was designed as a welcoming public space that goes far beyond its function as a library. It offers room for learning, collaboration, and cultural exchange, creating a destination for people from all walks of life.

Today, the building plays a central role in Calgary’s community life and demonstrates how architecture can foster connection and strengthen a sense of place.

For the precast concrete elements, the FRASER formliner was used to create a distinctive timber-like texture that complements the building’s architectural expression.

This castable polyurethane elastomer is developed and manufactured in Germany in our in-house technical centre, where it is continuously refined and tested. The result: high resistance to concrete, excellent detail reproduction and a solvent-free formulation.

For projects with a stronger focus on sustainability, RECKLI Formliner ECO brings this expertise into a certified version: cast from our in-house developed RECKLI PUR Elastomer with up to 90% sustainable raw materials from certified sources. 🌿

But how do flexible moulds become architectural concrete highlights?

① Manufacturing at RECKLI
Precise production of the formliner using high-quality polyurethane, manufactured at RECKLI’s production site in Herne, Germany.

② Installation in the Formwork
The Formliner is integrated into the formwork before concreting.

③ Demoulding of the Element
After curing, the structure is revealed within the concrete surface.

④ Reuse of the Formliner

New facility officially opened US Formliner expands in the US

A new production site in Georgia is now up and running with modern buildings, optimized processes and significantly increased capacity.

A key step to better serve the North American market.

Guests at the opening event had the chance to explore the new facility and get a behind the scenes look at production.

Concrete surfaces that respect history 🏰

As part of the extensive restoration of Budapest’s iconic Citadella, RECKLI Formliners helped shape the new architectural concrete elements connecting past and present. Around 650 m² of architectural concrete surfaces throughout the project were produced using two different formliner structures.

The RECKLI Formliner Fichtelberg, with its rock pattern and subtle irregularities, was chosen to recreate the appearance of natural stone and allow the new concrete elements to blend harmoniously into the historic surroundings of the fortress. In contrast, the functional Formliner Mecklenburg creates a very smooth, nearly unprocessed concrete surface, adding calm and understated areas within the overall architectural concept.

We are proud to have been part of this transformation and to contribute to a project that opens this historic place to future generations.

A landmark with a new future

Perched high above Budapest, the Citadella has shaped the city skyline for more than 170 years. Once built as a symbol of power, the historic fortress is now being transformed into a vibrant public space for culture, recreation and community.

Following an extensive restoration, visitors can once again experience breathtaking panoramic views, newly designed green spaces and cultural attractions at one of Budapest’s most iconic locations.

Around 650 m² of architectural concrete surfaces throughout the project were produced using two different formliner structures. One of the textures was specifically developed to reflect the appearance of natural stone, helping the new concrete elements blend harmoniously into the historic surroundings of the fortress.

A project that shows how historic architecture can successfully evolve for future generations.

Structure starts in the design stage 📝

Planning with formliners means that the final appearance of the concrete surface is not left to chance, but deliberately shaped from the very beginning.

Already in the early design phase, decisions are made about how the structure will appear, how light and shadow will interact, and what architectural impact will be created. Formliners are therefore not a later design element, but part of the conceptual thinking process.

This results in façades with clarity and character – precisely planned rather than subsequently interpreted. The surface becomes an integral part of the architectural idea.
