"A timing chain lasts a million kilometres." This opinion still goes around the market - and it stopped being true a long time ago.
A modern chain isn't a lifetime part. It stretches, it runs loud, and in the extreme it snaps - and what decides its fate isn't just the chain itself.

In the new HEPU TECH Academy episode:
✅ why manufacturers give a condition check, not a replacement interval - and why that check often comes too late

There was a time when a timing job meant collecting parts one by one: a roller from one shop, a tensioner from another, a pump and belt from wherever. On a Golf 1 with a 1.5 diesel, that still passed. On today's engines - it doesn't.

Modern units push over 100 hp per litre and run at 250–350 Nm of torque. The load on the timing drive has changed completely. That's why in the new episode of 𝗛𝗘𝗣𝗨 𝗧𝗘𝗖𝗛 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝘆 we say it plainly: the timing drive is one system, not a set of separate parts.

What we show:
✅ why every component in the kit wears at the same rate - and how one old part becomes the weakest link
✅ why a "good-looking" roller still has to be replaced
✅ why yield-to-tighten (single-use) bolts are always replaced as a full set
✅ what happens when the pump and belt aren't matched - on a real example
✅ how a mismatch ends in a skipped belt and engine interference

The bottom line is simple: saving a few euros on the kit can turn into a top-end engine overhaul.

Mit großer Trauer nehmen wir Abschied von Heinz Pollmann, Mitgründer und langjähriger Produktionsleiter von HEPU, der am 10. August 2026 im Alter von 80 Jahren verstorben ist.

Über Jahrzehnte hinweg hat Heinz Pollmann unser Unternehmen entscheidend geprägt. Mit seiner Leidenschaft für Technik, seiner außergewöhnlichen Fachkenntnis und seinem hohen Anspruch an Qualität und Zuverlässigkeit hat er Maßstäbe gesetzt, die HEPU bis heute begleiten.

Viele unserer Werte und Grundsätze sind untrennbar mit seinem Namen verbunden. Wir sind dankbar für sein Wirken, seinen Einsatz und alles, was er für HEPU geschaffen hat.

It is with great sadness that we bid farewell to Heinz Pollmann, co-founder and long-standing Production Manager of HEPU, who passed away on 10 August 2026 at the age of 80.

For decades, Heinz Pollmann played a defining role in shaping our company. With his passion for engineering, his exceptional expertise, and his unwavering commitment to quality and reliability, he established standards that continue to shape HEPU to this day.

Many of our values and principles are inseparably linked to his name. We are deeply grateful for his dedication, his contribution, and everything he did for HEPU.
