At SOMAG AG Jena, we are continuously working on technologies that improve the quality and reliability of aerial imaging systems. One area of focus is the mitigation of motion blur during high-speed airborne missions.
A key concept in this context is Forward Motion Compensation (FMC), a method used to reduce image blur caused by forward movement during image acquisition.
As part of an ongoing development project, we are working on a proprietary concept called Overlay Rotation Correction (ORC). This approach combines:
โข real-time control algorithms
โข advanced sensor fusion
โข adaptive signal processing
The goal is to further enhance stabilization performance and improve image quality during demanding flight operations.
In addition, the project includes the development of:
โข new filtering techniques
โข optimized energy-management strategies
โข diagnostic and predictive maintenance approaches
Together, these developments aim to increase data quality, operational efficiency and system reliability for airborne mapping and remote sensing platforms.
This project is funded by the Free State of Thuringia and co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus.
We look forward to sharing further insights as the project progresses.
