🎤 Thirty minutes into a soundcheck for ECM Records, Chris Allen opened his laptop and started shopping for SCHOEPS microphones. He's used them on every record since.

In this interview, recorded at NAMM 2026, the multiple Grammy Award-winning jazz recording engineer shares how a pair of CMC 6 amplifiers changed everything, from that first session with Joe Lovano's "Trio Tapestry" at Sear Sound to a workflow built entirely around the Colette series.

Yesterday, SWR* trainees in media design and colleagues from various departments spent the day with us in Karlsruhe.

We took them through our production facility to see how SCHOEPS microphones are built, from development to final assembly.

The afternoon turned into a deep-dive microphone talk with our co-CEO Helmut Wittek and acoustics engineer Hannes Dieterle , covering current projects and real-world questions about microphone use in broadcasting. 💡
