We are proud to share the publication of a new study demonstrating a simpler approach for detecting exogenous C4 sugar adulteration in apple juice using LC-IRMS.

The work shows that naturally occurring sorbitol can be measured within the same LC-IRMS run as the major sugars, providing a reliable isotopic reference point for identifying added C4 sugars, a common challenge in food authenticity testing.

By integrating sorbitol analysis directly into the workflow, the method significantly reduces sample preparation requirements and eliminates the need for multiple analytical workflows, helping make routine analysis more efficient and straightforward for laboratories.

Combined with the robustness and ease-of-use of the iso CHROM LC interface, this approach represents an exciting development for food fraud detection and food authenticity analysis.
