Hurricane Francine gains strength and moving to Louisiana, where several liquefied natural gas plants are based. Chevron, Exxon, Shell evacuating workers, suspending drilling and shutting some wells. Cameron LNG plant has already reduced production.

Natural gas price futures rose today after the news of Russian attack on gas-compressor stations in western part of Ukraine. These actions didn’t affect Russian gas flows to EU via UA. Flows are stable.

Norway starts its annual maintenance season. Nearly three weeks, starting late August, volumes will be over 120 million cm lower per day. It’s about one third of ordinary flows. Repair works will cut giant Troll productions. Karsto will be completely shut down during this time.

European natural gas storages are nearly full by 90% which is two months ahead of the EU’s 1 Nov goal of filling that level. This year we are facing lower levels comparing with last year, but it’s still above five years average. TTF gas futures near two weeks low. For now Inventories offsetting the supply risk, but still market is very sensitive to any disruptions.

U.S Venture Global LNG had concluded a 20-year agreement with SEFE supplying 2,25 million tonnes of LNG yearly. With this deal, Venture Global becomes number one LNG supplier to the German market.

Qatar signed with China a 27 year agreement for LNG deliveries, under which 4 million tons will be supplied annually. First cargoes will arrive in 2026 and China National Petroleum Corp. will take a 5% stake in a production train at Qatar’s North Field East expansion LNG project with capacity of 8 million metric tons a year.
