Who would have thought 30 years ago that we would be able to make calls, use satnav and work on a pocket-sized device? The pace of development has been staggering. It has also fundamentally changed the way we work.

Developments in welding technology followed a similarly dynamic course. 🔧

From step-switched power supplies without inverters, through the first inverter-based units, to fully digital power supplies with intelligent process control. The leap is enormous. And it makes a real difference in practice.

Arcs with reduced heat output minimise spatter and distortion. TIG welding has long been the gold standard for high-quality root passes in applications such as pipework construction. Nowadays, modern MAG power sources deliver the same quality while offering significantly higher productivity. Tighter weld preparations and deeper pe*******on can reduce the weld volume by up to 60 per cent. There is less welding time. Less filler metal is required. Less CO₂. 💡

Women in welding technology: Chantal shows how it’s done ⚡

From IT specialist to electronics technician for equipment and systems – Chantal Radloff has forged her own path into the world of technology and successfully completed her apprenticeship at EWM.

She opted for a second apprenticeship to delve even deeper into the world of electronics. Today, she combines IT expertise, electrical engineering knowledge and her commitment to training at EWM.

Her advice to all girls and women interested in technology:
“If you’re keen on technology, you should follow your own path – even if, as a woman, you might be on your own at first. What I can do, you can do too.” 💪
