Our lives are a direct result of the decisions we make along the way. The more we know about different outcomes, the easier we can make a decision.

But what if outcomes are uncertain?

We have taken a look at how our brain handles uncertainty and explored why mobile EEG will play a critical role in fully understanding the underlying processes.

“How Will Brain-Computer Interfaces Shape Society?”

A very important question and this year's theme at the California Neurotech Conference.

Of course, we’ll be there to promote some of the best tools you can find to answer this question: Our mobile EEG system which is among the smallest and most flexible you can find.

Come see us at UCLA (Covel Commons) this Saturday, April 29 to get hands-on with our products and discuss your upcoming projects!

The upcoming SAS conference is all about how we as humans are affected by different situations.
Neuroscience is a critical part of this complex system as we need to assess what’s “normal” before we can measure any effect. Mobile EEG is the perfect tool to set such a baseline.

Mentalab is proud to sponsor the event and we’ll have a booth with some hardware on display.

Come check out our latest products and let’s discuss your next affection experiment!

Mentalab is proud to support the next generation of Neuroscientists.

We built the smallest mobile EEG system with a focus on flexibility, and seeing young and innovative teams quickly create novel solutions with our platform is the best validation we can hope for.

An interesting new approach to developing a BCI system to assist with spatial navigation, using just 8 channels and dry electrodes. How do movement intentions hold up against conventional cue-based visual ERPs? The results might surprise you!

Definitely a step in the right direction to increase quality of life for those who can’t move without assistance. Thank you Dr Mark van Hulle and team!

While novel processing methods and a shift towards new mobile hardware often steal the spotlight, it’s easy to get distracted from one of the most important questions of all:

Who is going to benefit from this?

There is often a substantial disconnect between where the research is happening and who would benefit the most from it.

We have taken a look at ways to make EEG research more equitable and close the gap:

Batuhan Dirik and colleagues scientifically tested Mentalab Explore and found it is a valid and reliable EEG device.

In a new scientific article, published in Brain Research, researchers at Eskisehir Technical University ran a battery of tests on Mentalab's flagship EEG system, Mentalab Explore. The paper, titled The New Wireless EEG Device Mentalab Explore is a Valid and Reliable System for the Measurement of Resting State EEG Spectral Features compares EEG signals of the Explore device against a gold-standard clinical device.

The results: no significant difference.

Considering alpha peak frequency, suppression, and mean power, as well as test-retest reliabilitity, Mentalab Explore was shown to be an excellent EEG amplifier.

Mentalab Expore provides exquisite EEG data, but is the size of a matchbox, takes minutes to set up, and is a fraction of the cost of a clinical device. For more information, and to take a look at our latest development: Mentalab Explore+, which builds on everything we have learnt in the EEG space, please contact us at [email protected]
