Lasers are a wonderful technology - too wonderful to be used only in heavy industrial machines. May we introduce our newest family member: Mr Beam II, the affordable desktop laser cutter and engraver for everyone. Simply connect your PC, Mac or tablet by WiFi, choose your own design and cut or engrave a wide variety of materials with Mr Beam II. Laser cutting and engraving is a technique based on
thermal material removal. Mostly used on (but not limited to) flat materials, its advantages are working on complex two-dimensional shapes with a very high precision, but without touching the material at all. Compared to traditional methods it is economical for even small batch sizes. We started developing our Mr Beam laser cutter and engraver because we were fascinated by the technology and its possibilities, but weren't able to afford any of the industrial machines.Also, we were not happy with the usability and software stack of existing solutions. We wanted to create the easiest to use laser cutter for the desktop, platform-agnostic and mobile ready. Working with mr Beam II: Focused on the ease of use, Mr Beam works with standard file formats. Simply create your design using your favorite application - or alternatively choose one from our integrated library. Next, drag it into the working area of our web app. An accurate preview of the machine's working area allows for easy positioning on any item. Photos or bitmap graphics are suitable for engraving purposes.Cutting out shapes requires vector graphics files. For the latter, Mr Beam supports the popular, openly documented SVG format, which can be exported from Illustrator, Corel, Inkscape and many others.
