𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭-𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐭: 𝐀 𝐂𝐢𝐫𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐁𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐬 🌱🌍
Hi Facebook community,
We’re thrilled to finally share what we’ve been quietly building over the last eight months. About-Watt started as a co-creation project between SCE , Hochschule München, EIT Urban Mobility and six international Master’s students from four countries including Alishba Tahir, Haris Arnautovic, Marius Hämmerle, Megha Singh, Tobias Eichhorn, and Umar Farooq.
𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧? To tackle one of the most pressing challenges in the EV revolution: What happens to electric car batteries when they retire?
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦
By 2030, Germany alone will see 1 million end-of-life EV batteries (KBA, 2024). Yet, our research revealed a critical gap: 60% of EV owners don’t know their options for these batteries, leading to wasted economic value and environmental cost.

We didn’t start with answers—we started with questions. Over eight months, we:
🔋 Surveyed and interviewed 600+ experts (battery engineers, EV owners, startup founders, policymakers)
🌐 Attended the Tomorrow.Mobility Conference in Barcelona, Winter School in Portugal, and countless workshops
💡 Learned from mentors like Bettina Maisch, Lars Schepp, Christian Klusmann, and Johannes Kirschner (EIT Urban Mobility)
What became clear? The market lacks transparent, end-to-end solutions for managing retired EV batteries.

We simplify the process for EV owners:

We’re early in our journey and humbly ask for your guidance:
👉 EV owners: If this resonates, let’s chat.
👉 Battery/energy experts: Share your wisdom.
👉 German/DACH ecosystem partners: Let’s collaborate.
👉 Everyone else: If LinkedIn’s algorithm misfired, take this as a nudge to share with someone who should see it.
This is just the beginning. Stay tuned as we share milestones, lessons, and (yes) the occasional stumbles.
Thank you for being part of our story.
